  • I hope you post again so I can see your progress, you started the 5BD way before me and today is only day 6 for me. I feel good but like to see how others are progressing so I have something to look forward to.

  • I hope you don’t give up. You wouldn’t learn anything if you didn’t make any mistakes and don’t be so hard on yourself if and when you do.

I’m on day 6 and finding it’s fairly easy to follow and I think more about what I want to eat and the quantity is already established for me so I’m always eating what I want. I didn’t get to 276 lbs from…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the pat on the back. I honestly think anyone can do this and I’m down 2 more lbs. today. Whoo Hoo.

I think it will be amazing when I reach my goal weight and my boyfriend who can be very sabataging and competitive is starting to pay attention because I feel almost euphoric because I’m focussed on this.

    Last night I thought I might…[Read more]

  • Hi! I am so glad you have decided to do this for yourself. I feel the same way. I hate walking by places where I can see my reflection in the mirror/glass. I know we can all do it. If for no one else we must do it for ourselves. I often think about the part of Dr. Lewis’s book where he says would you lose the weight in X amount of months if…[Read more]

You are right–there are some foods that are worse than other foods, particularly those that are high in cholesterol. Some ‘bad’ foods might contain chemicals that may turn out to be carcinogenic in the future. But what i meant by good and bad is that a calorie is a calorie–and all foods have them.

    But yes–just keep plugging…[Read more]

  • Don’t give up, the next few months are going to go by regardless if you do this or not so why not do something good for you that will change your life forever.

Day 2 was hard for me, headache and I am the World’s #1 Stress eater and I always seem to be under some kind of stress.

I have tried everything just short of checking out bypass surgery…[Read more]

  • I’m going to cut out the richer foods and see what happens. My bites were perfect this week, but the foods I ate were very different from the first week. I just went and purchased more of what I ate the first week.

One area I do disagree with you on: good vs. bad food. Food is food, yes, but processed food is nothing but junk and full of…[Read more]

Fantastic! It is so good to have you back. Join in, and encourage others to find the incentives to follow in your successful footsteps!

Please update me at least once a week. I am really looking forward to your progress.

  • Your bowel movements should slow down to about once per week, if you are doing what I have suggested perfectly.

In terms of what you are eating, there is no such thing as ‘good carbs’ vs. ‘bad carbs’ vs. good foods, etc. It’s all just food. Don’t complicate things. Just follow the program more closely and let nature do the rest. It will.…[Read more]

  • Yes–that is an outstanding start. You are on your way, no doubt. All you need to do at this point is stay focused until you cross the finish line. Keep up the good work!!

  • I know there’s one today, how do I get in on it?

  • Hi Dr. Lewis,

I cannot figure it out. When I do eat, I’m eating healthy and the fats that I’m taking in are healthy fats: hummus, olive oil, avocado, etc. Two times this week my five bites were from a crossant and twice from sushi. I did have my cycle this week, so maybe that has something to do with it. The most I’m taking in on any given…[Read more]

I don’t know exactly why you lost so little weight. My guess is your bites were much bigger than you realized. But regardless, one way or another, you are taking in the calories. Your body, just living (breathing, pumping blood, etc) require about 1800 cal a day, and even if you eat 2 snickers bars in a day you are still 1300…[Read more]

Great work to this point. Yes you are going to think a lot about food, but if you look within yourself you shouldn’t be hungry at this point. So, when it comes time to eat, eat a bite of what you’ve been dreaming of.

As you continue to lose weight your body produces a chemical called aponectin–a hormone that further quells your…[Read more]

Thanks for your post. I also agree it’s amazing how much energy I have. Also I don’t really feel like I am missing anything. If I crave a certain food I know it’s only a few hours away. The one thing I can’t give up is Diet Coke. I have had 5 bites of pizza – fries – fast food – candy – etc. I have also added some exercise…[Read more]

    Week one was great-lost 10lbs!
Week two was not so great-maintained!
It’s my own fault, I had family visiting and splurged quite a few times. However, thankfully I did not gain and am starting again on Monday. I’m methodical, everything I set goals for always begin on Mondays. In the…[Read more]

Hi! I am new here. Eleven days? How did you make it through the first few days? I need to buy the book…but I am starting today on the 5 bites. I am afraid I won’t have enough willpower. Was it hard for you?

I just finished day 13. The first few days are the most difficult, especially day 2. Once you get over the…[Read more]

  • Sorry–forgot to answer the first part. As long as there are very few calories in you tea–great have it. But the whole colon cleaner thing…why? As if there were some benefit to getting the poop (that’s going to build right back up again) out of you body. In fact, everything in your stools remains OUTSIDE the body until the sugar, minerals,…[Read more]
