Here is my weekend and my 5 bites today….now I want everyone to know that I weighed myself and I lost 5 lbs in week 2….I’m estastic about it…yeah I know it wasn’t a huge number but 14 lbs in two weeks…makes me want to dance (preferably not on tables)…Anyway here is my last few days…Sunday was 5 bites of pizza that my daughter brought…[Read more]

Lifestyle is my program for change.
When I’m on 5 bites I just walk through life not thinking about anything except 5 bites. I don’t pay attention wants going on around me. Into the house I go world is turned off for me.
But with weight loss I need a lifestyle that will walk with me to keep the weight off.
So I’m glad for Dr. Lewis writting this…[Read more] -

And so does not eating at all, seriously. If you stick to the diet you will realize that you are not hungry and will start skipping meals. That is when you will loose the most weight, and it is not painful at all. You will feel improwered and will be done with your diet quickly. How great is that?

Hi Renee and All –
To answer Renee’s question, it is FINE if you eat fewer than 5 bites for a meal, just never, at any single time, stretch your stomach beyond 5 bites. The 3 bites for lunch and 5 for dinner will equate to faster weight loss and getting done with the whole program sooner. So go for it!

I like seeing what everyone eats…My 5 bites for lunch were 3 fun size snickers…for evening I had 5 bites of vegetable soup, mostly the veggies not much broth.

OK here goes….today I waited and ate my first meal at 1pm and it was more like 3 bites……I decided last night to just take the smallest containers I could find and put my meal into it….well by the time I got around to eating it was only 3 bites, and today it was shredded chicken with relish, lite mayo, and a few shreds of cheese…..then I…[Read more]

Hello Elle,
You are correct. I was not fair, but your questions did make me think what is was like just a short time ago and how much life has changed for me. I too am interested in where the drive, determination and focus comes from to do this diet, when society, friends, co-workers, family, etc. seem to work against you. For me, Elle, after…[Read more] -

No fair Roy:laugh: you are already done! For the first question, I meant "what is " positive" about your weight BEFORE you’ve lost, i.e. for those who are struggling- if you aren’t motivated to lose the weight, there’s some reason that you still want to be your current weight, i.e. for me, I don’t want my family to think I have an eating…[Read more]

Roy – that is so crazy that there is a double standard for you and your boss. In my opinion, what you did is much more admirable and commendable because your boss can LITERALLY not eat more than 5 bites or so or he’ll just get sick and lose it whereas you did it all on your own power — and with Dr. Lewis’ encouragement…!Post edited by:…[Read more]

I went through the same thing in my office, and now that I’m off the diet, I still hear it. My boss had the surgery to lose weight and everyong states how well he is doing. But when they talk about me it was about the harm I was doing to my body, when my boss was at his worst physical shape to even have surgiry. Like I have shared before, all in…[Read more]

Hello all, I love this subject. Since eating is so much a part of my life before, on and off the diet. Please…keep it simple…5 bites, thats it. It doesn’t matter what it is. I, however, could never only eat candy bars. But, whatever floats your boat. The important thing is that it is 5 bites, and your stomach will reset. Keep it simple, eat…[Read more]

I haven’t told anyone what I’m doing yet because I don’t want them to discourage me. What I want to do is continue with this strategy successfully and show them that I am just fine and much healthier to boot.
Under my primary doctor’s recommendation, I went to orientation meetings for both gastic bypass as well as Lapband surgery to check it out.…[Read more]

I would rather that you learn how to throw food away. There is nothing that will make you feel better than to just throw the food away. So I would rather just stop at bite #5. The Snickers Bars are used to help you reset your hungerstat without having to think at all, but after that I just want you to count to five. Then stop. And get busy…[Read more]

Its so true! Everyone is caught up in the hype of "starvation mode". In reality, on restrictive diets your body’s BMR only decreases by 20% and thats just a possibility. So Im no longer scared about the starvation mode thing
