  • By the way– I feel bad that I lied to these other women, but they all told me I don’t need to lose weight. Well, whether I do or I don’t, I’m still not at my personal goal of 100lbs (I’m 5’3"), so they don’t need to worry about whether or not I need to lose weight.

I do have to say though, that hard chairs are hurting my rear-end, my spine is…[Read more]

  • Hi Stephanie…don’t beat yourself up or worry you will fail at this, you have to take each day as a new day and remind yourself just how "good thin will feel" when you get to your goal. I’m an all or nothing person, and so I truly understand the fear of failure, I preach that failure is not an option it is a choice, and I learned quickly on this…[Read more]

  • Great plan. If you went ‘hard-core’ the whole way, you could get to your goal in 1 month. Good luck!

    Al

  • Thanks Dr. Al for your welcome and words of wisdom on exercise.

Thanks Andria for your reply as well. I am excited to get started!

  • I don’t think you did anything wrong, the 1st week always registers -0-, I thought it was kind of weird, too, I think is should start at week 0, since that is the beginning, but the way it works is the week 1 is the starting weight and week 2 shows week 1 loss. It took me some time to get used to it as well. Welcome, I have been here 3 weeks and…[Read more]

  • Hi Stephanie! Welcome!

I am looking forward to working with you, and I think you’re going to do great! Exercise plays no significant roll in weight loss, so you need not worry about becoming frustrated with excessive strenous work that doesn’t make you thinner. In terms of the weight tracker, you can enter the correct data in 1 week.

  • Andrea, I have a poster on my wall that shows a person outside, running up aaaaaaaaaaall these stairs. The poster says: "Persistence: it takes a lot of little things to do something great. Point is, don’t give up."
We’re all in your shoes hon. You can do this. ;)

  • Wow! Today was tougher than I thought, day 3 on nothing but snickers bars…5 bites no more and no less….I was in the office all day and the temptation is tough there…I sure get a lot more exercise going in the office then when working from home. I was really hungry today…but I’m sure it was pshycological being around everyone in the…[Read more]

  • Gatorade has a lot of calories, so I’m not a big fan of it. But do what you need to do. The 4-bite thing sounds good. But instead of trying to figure out what you can ‘get away with’, I would rather you ask yourself, "can I just eat 3 bites for this meal?" (To which I would respond, "Of Course"!)

Look, just get excited about feeling stuffed…[Read more]

  • Thanks, Dr. Lewis (sorry, I replied to Andria’s without seeing your’s). Yeah, I have heard way too many horror stories about people having back surgery and being just as bad off, if not worse, after the fact, so I was going to avoid surgery no matter what! I think they’re going to put me through back school(?) (haha, I have no idea what that…[Read more]

  • Wow, congrats on your loss! That is amazing! Yeah, I started this diet back in February and lost the initial 14 or 15 lbs, but I was living with roommates, and was feeling left out of the social dinners and such and of course relapsed back into the life of a fatty, haha. Then I tried again over the summer when I had weddings galore to attend…so…[Read more]

  • Andrea –

Herniated disks are more common than we realized, and THE MAJORITY of the time they regress on their own. But, of course, you need to discuss this with your personal doctor.

OK. So what would I do? Definitely, not exercise. After all, we don’t lose any significant weight exercising. But I would have to get the extra weight off my…[Read more]

  • Good luck!! Even if you cannot exercise, this program can work well. I think that maybe only light exercise is recommended in the beginning anyway. I am really new at this but know that it works. I officially started 3 weeks ago and lost 20 lbs already, but when I found out about this played around for 2 weeks prior to officially starting and…[Read more]

  • Hello Renee,

In the early stages of the diet I would wake up and find myself pacing around the house. I never heard of someone dying from not getting enough sleep. But I have heard of some people dying from being over weight. Please remember that you will forget that you were ever on the diet if you just do it and "be done with it". Roy

  • Hi Renee –

Your story is a great one. Keep it going!

There are many reasons why you might be waking up in the middle of the night. 1) New-found energy (from the absence of the post-prandial somnolence that is so common for so many people), 2) excitement, 3) anxiety, 4) alcohol (if this is the reason, please keep it to an absolute minimum), and…[Read more]

  • Thanks Roy you are very inspiring….So for the past 2 days I’ve been so disipline I can hardly stand it. Yesterday I had one dark chocolate snickers bar at 12:30 pm and then the an almond snickers bar at 7:30 pm Today I repeated the same thing oh and I’ve had 2 diet cokes each day………I’m sitting here watching the results of the biggest…[Read more]

  • Amazing! :) I wish I had seen this during the 1st stages of my diet. Roy

  • And the sugar your body needs will come from the fat.
I personaly believe that the hunger pains is actually your stomach decreasing in size and the burning of fat. I’m sure I’m wrong, but when I believed that it was, I welcomed the feeling. How weird it that?

    Roy

  • Hi Renee.

Don’t think about the nutrition. Remember that with 5 bites you are taking in only enough calories to support a 50 pound person and is using your fat as fuel/sugar..whatever. :)

I too had pizza, many times. Pizza, tacos, steak..etc. I needed to taste the food. It beats a candy bar by far. Thats only an opinion and you know what they…[Read more]

  • Yes…you are very wrong about this. 5 bites of ANYTHING will fill you up. Again, your hungerstat is based on VOLUME (and hence the stretch of your stomach walls) and has nothing to do with WHAT you eat.
