Hi Dr Lewis
Firstly let me say that not once have I been hungry on this diet and 3 bites does indeed fill me up, so I know I am being perfect with my bites

I am not a scientist Dr Lewis, but I am great with numbers (bookkeeper) and I am sure that between the two of us we can figure out what is going on here.
You say that "A human being, no…[Read more]

I’m Sorry, Thinalinda. I don’t mean to insult you in any way. But I am a scientist, and science is science. Facts are facts. You can not convince me, no matter how hard you try, that 1 + 1 = 3. I just won’t believe, no matter how ’emphatically’ you insist that 1 + 1 = 3, that 1 + 1 is indeed 3. A human being, no matter how slow their…[Read more]

Dr Lewis
NO NO NO, emphatically NO, I have not cheated, I have not had any extra calories, I do not drink alchohol, I am not sleep eating, and comments like "the ‘little’ bite you take of a cookie that is just sitting on the counter counts" when I absolutely have NOT is just not a very constructive thing to say to anyone.

Thinalinda – at this rate–only 2 pounds a week–you would have essentially maintained your weight, had you been captured during WWII and placed in a concentration camp. Simply stated, you CAN’T only lost 2 pounds per week and 3 bites bid. So the extra bites are getting in–somehow, some way. Maybe you are sleep-eating? I don’t know, but the…[Read more]

I think alot depends on your frame of mind as to whether you do well or not, but sometimes it takes a few attempts to get there.
I do hope you manage to overcome the two days you are having problems with and you certainly have my support.
I for one am determined this time and have not cheated once since I re-started and have eaten "perfectly".…[Read more]

Dear Thinalinda,
You are definitely dedicated. I do really well for 5 out of 7 days. Those two days a week are slowing me down considerably. I believe that women succomb to emotional eating very easily.

Betsy replied to the topic What did your "5 Bites" consist of today? in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 17 years, 11 months ago
barbann- I find protein helps me a lot, too. Today I had a Snickers bar for lunch and one steak taco from Baja Fresh (4 bites) and 2 chips for dinner.

Hi Everyone,
This is a great topic. Deciding on what five bites to eat other than the snickers bar wasn’t easy.
This is my first full week on the diet and I found that protein helps the hunger quite a bit.
My midday bites were sliced Chicken and cheese, made into bite size portions.
Then for the evening I had 2 scrambled eggs and a slice of…[Read more] -

barbann – that’s fabulous! What a great start and it will help you keep up the momentum. I love your comment: "So keep trying is all I can suggest, eventually we get sick of ourselves and actually do it." That’s really the bottom line.Post edited by: Violette, at: 2008/11/23 01:31

I started the diet 5 weeks ago and have had a hard time. Even though a couple of times I got past the 3 days, I slipped off the diet constantly.
Finally last week I started all over again and have been able to keep it up. I’m so glad I was stubborn enough to keep trying.
I’ve been on the diet now for a week and have lost 12lbs. I am so delighted…[Read more]

EXCELLENT!!! Thanks for the reassurance, I feel better already—the whole "in control" of your body thing is the main component for me in the 5BD, and to hear that the Paxil is nothing more than an appetite increaser and not a med that has chemicals that will effect my weight BEYOND MY CONTROL is a BIG relief. Thanks again, you made my…[Read more]

Yep. That’s all it is. But, the Wellbutrin actually suppresses your appetite, and the two medications are well tolerated together.

Yeah, I don’t have but 10 lbs to get back to where I was at 95, but like you said I want to do it quickly, so I wanted to 5-bite it! I am going to try 150mg of Wellbutrin instead of 300mg and see if I can tolerate that along with the Paxil, and maybe it will help my hunger side effect of the Paxil
is that all it is, just that Paxil increases your…[Read more]

Hi Leanne. Welcome back.
Paxil stimulates your appetite more than any other SSRI. It may work the best for anxiety, but it also MAKES you want to eat more. It does not, however, contain any calories. SO…just be strict even though you might be hungrier than usual, you should be able to control it by eating the same amount of food for each…[Read more] -

I had read another thread here where you had suggested Lexapro and Wellbutrin—-unfortunately I have tried both: Lexapro tends to have the opposite effect on me, and Wellbutrin makes me want to rip my skin off (sorry for the graphic description there, but that’s all I can accurately compare the feeling to).

Arleen – great story. And congratulations on your fantastic weight loss. And you are so right about the immediate gratification and the psychology behind reaching the optimal level of motivation. This has been life changing for me to finally have me in control of the food — the food not controlling me. I’m glad your husband loves the idea of…[Read more]

Hello Al –
The show upset me. I too felt that they did not allow you to speak and that it was an ambush. But it is a matter of perception. My husband said it made him love the idea of this diet even more than before. He liked what you had to say and that you made alot more sense than the other doctor and the dietician. Juliet is a svelt…[Read more]

I agree with Faye. I don’t think they gave you a fair chance to explain the theories behind your program. It’s such a radical new idea that people have a knee-jerk reaction without listening. The nutritionist and the other gentleman (I think he was a doctor as well?) weren’t listening either. Not sure why they were there. I wish they would have…[Read more]

I enjoyed the show. I don’t feel you had a fair chance to explain your view. It is so radical to the accepted information in the weight loss approach that their own fears dominate the conversation. If I could make one observation, they missed the timeline of the program, the weight loss is so rapid you would have no chance to become ill or…[Read more]

I started the diet today and ate 5 bites of a cheeseburger for lunch and 3 bites of tri-tip and 2 bites of garlic bread for dinner.
