I do know that this is about the 100th time I’ve heard of thinner people living longer. The group of people called CRONies (calorie restriction optimal nutrition) purposely eat very little calories in order to slow down their metabolisms, and they live longer. The example scientists gave was that of a Xerox machine. If you make a copy of…[Read more]

Isn’t that (mainly protein and fat) the foundation of the Atkins Diet? I guess, since I am trying YOUR diet, I’ll do small bites of whatever. I wish I could handle the snicker’s bar, but it gives me major heartburn.:cheer:Post edited by: klculmer, at: 2008/03/29 01:42

LOL thanks Rae!!!
And yes, at the moment I am only doing Snickers bars, though I did deviate yesterday and had a Twix bar instead (its a little bit less in weight, but whatever
)…Im kind of excite to see where I’m at on Tuesday, I know I will be between 206 and 209 just because the Dr. expects a weight loss of 15 pounds per week and I’m 3…[Read more] -

Kizzykay –
Right–you are predominantly losing fat, and you are plotting yourself out on a very good curve (pg 59). So just stay focused and your life will be glorious! Keep up the good work!

Excuse me, but you are wrong. Dr. Gerber and his group, published in the International Journal of Obesity, showed that the thinner someone is, for both men and women, down through a BMI of (actually 18), the longer and healthier they live. This study was a randomized, double-blinded study involving 100,000 people. It is the best study…[Read more]

That’s precisely why it bothers me – he is recommending a weight that is generally considered to be unhealthy.
Of course many people choose to be unhealthily thin, and that is their choice – but for a medical professional to recommend it is a different issue.
It has NOT been proven that the thinner you are the better – it is possible to die of…[Read more]

Its all in his book. It has been scientifically proven that the thinner you are the healthier you are and the least at risk you for several health problems that are obesity related. When you read the book read from pages 10-15, its really informative
. And remember a BMI of 18.5 is just what the doctor recommends. He says that if you are…[Read more] -

Ok so I couldnt wait until Tuesday to do this: I GOT ON THE SCALE!!!! And not only was I happy with the results. I WAS SHOCKED!!! I have only been on this diet since Tuesday (so this is the start of day 4) and already I went from 221 to 209 pounds!!! I almost had a heart attack
I know some of that is like water weight and whatnot but I know I…[Read more] -

Perhaps this man was unhealthily thin!
But even if not, we all know that one can’t generalise from one example – there are athletes with a BMI of 26 who are extremely healthy, doesn’t mean we should all be aiming for a BMI of 26.
The usually quoted range for men is BMI 20 to 25 – I’m puzzled as to where Dr Lewis got his evidence that 18.5 is…[Read more]

Good so far…not great, but good. However, ‘protein’ bars will not speed up the process. Where ever did you hear such a thing? There is no science that demonstrates ingesting amino acids accelerates fat consumption. Amazing what you hear out there, though.

drlewis replied to the topic Question : Skin after weight loss. in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 18 years, 7 months ago
Shebih –
You have more than 100 pounds to lose, and at your height you are going to have left over skin. BUT, at 110, you will appear to have a lot less excess skin than at, say, 140. At 140 you will still have ‘clumps’ of fat in the skin folds which will make your skin look ‘saggy’. However, as you continue to use up all your fat, those folds…[Read more]

My starting weight was 194.
Goal weight is 140
Loat 21 pounds so far
Finishing my 5th week
trying smaller bites, mostly protein to speed up progress
I would like to get these facts from others, too. -

Dr. Lewis, I’m finding this is also true for me as well. I have my times set for noon and 5pm, and I find myself actually being hungry about 15-20mins. before those times. It’s like my stomach somehow magically knows what time it is LOL, and expects food. I’m not hungry any other times. Sure, I get the ‘bored-why-don’t-I-go-and-eat-something’…[Read more]

I woke up this morning, started my time-of-month, stepped on the scale, and found I have lost 3lbs. Normally, with all the water weight and ‘blahs’, I gain weight. Not today though!!
I’m absolutely thrilled. -
drlewis replied to the topic Keep us updated! in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 18 years, 7 months ago
Exactly. As you progress along this diet, you will only develop hunger during those 2 time, and 5 bites will fill you up each time. Fantastic, isn’t it?

Well my weigh in day is Tuesday and I dont wanna ruin the surprise
. But so far, I am not feeling as hungry as before. I have noticed that around the times I scheduled to eat (12:30 and 6:00pm) I get the "hungry" feeling in my stomach. Does my body know that its supposed to eat then? -
kizzykay replied to the topic Hopefully helpful in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 18 years, 7 months ago
