Hi Adrienne. Welcome!
4 bites 3 times per day = 12 bites
5 bites 2 times per day = 10 bites, so,
I would rather that you ate 10 bites 2 times per day. I’ve been doing this for a while, and this seems to be the regimen that has worked for most people. Five bites gives you the ability to taste a full meal, which 4 bites might not afford you.…[Read more] -

I’m with you on the praying part! I see this as a serious sin issue that we can pray for His help. I’m not loosing as fast as Dr. Lewis says I should but I’m happy and it’s consistent. I am really good with self-control when I pray and apply myself but I guess my "bites" are not EXACTLY the same every meal, so I am not loosing 10 pounds a week.…[Read more]

Well I started and stopped serval times. My original starting weight mid march was 175 and I am 5,2. I really started very strict this past monday starting at 173.5 and this am I weighed 164. Thanks for replying to the poop question and I was wanting to let nature take its course but it was becoming very uncomfortable so that it why I took the…[Read more]

By the way, GettingSkinny, could you remind me when you started the program, and how your weight has progressed since you started?

I have suggestion. You don’t need to force yourself to poop. Just let nature take its course. Remember–you could go up to a couple of weeks without having a bowel movement. Great! It means you are being very strict and you will have an extraordinary result. Keep up the good work!
Now, if your stools become hard and uncomfortable, take a…[Read more]

Rae – You are doing great! Absolutely you can have 1/2 a Snicker’s Bar. You will finish the race just that much faster. And you are getting over the ‘hump’, so you will find that very little food is very satisfying. When you are thoroughly comfortable and such a small amount of food, start eating all kinds of foods–just keep the volume the…[Read more]

Well, I did it! I ate just 1 Snicker bar today- ALL day. EXACTLY what my plan was. I bought a 6-pack of them, and put them in the fridge. I cut one in half this afternoon, and had that for lunch, and the other half for dinner. Not much of a difference at ALL in hunger. I still felt comfortably full afterwards, so maybe 1/2 bar for each meal is…[Read more]

Thanks for your response. I just had a physical but hadn’t done my blood work since I was afraid that the candy bars might affect my blood sugar. I started this diet after seeing my regular Doctor. If the muscle aches and fatigue don’t clear up, I’ll pay him another visit. I think that 5 bites is pretty severe but 3 BITES, wow. I’ll have to…[Read more]

WHAT a great idea you have Kathy!! Oh my goodness I never thought of that!! [writes it down in the journal–added as arsenol]. What an awesome idea. On the ship, when it’s time for lunch, the food-servers puts food on my husband’s plate, but of course it’s always way too much food. He sits down with whomever, takes his time, measures out his 5…[Read more]

You know, I *almost* made this same mistake LOL? I went into 7-11 and saw the HUGE Snickers bars, and almost bought one. They always put the king-sized stuff up top so you can see it and buy it. The regular-sized bars are waaaay down a few shelves, almost hidden among the other items. Society is really pushing the larger sizes aren’t they?? Sneaky…[Read more]

Hi Rae – Don’t fear going out to dinner. I’ve had to do it a bunch of times and it may not be "fun" but it is workable. Just order an appetizer or split the dinner with your husband. That way you both get a treat but you don’t have to violate the "plan". We have enough deprivation on this diet, you shouldn’t have to avoid family, too! Best…[Read more]

There are 2 issues here: 1) why only 2 pounds in 3 days. I can’t explain this, except to say you are getting the calories in somehow. Maybe (just until you are done with the program) go on a 3 bite/day routine. Once the weight is off you can then eat again. So just get the weight off. 2) Muscle Fatigue. I would advise you see…[Read more]

Thanks for your help! I do believe my bites were getting too big. I stopped at a convenience store on my way home from work today and saw the Snickers bars and thought, "My bites probably aren’t too big." Then I realized I was looking at the King Size bars! Outrageous! As soon as I saw the regular-sized bars it was obvious that I have been taking…[Read more]

No I’m not taking any meds. I have tried the 2 candy bars per day for the past three days and I am able to endure the sugar but have not felt any more energy or less muscle fatigue. Plus, I have only lost 2 pounds in those 3 days. I’m only 55 and feel 85.

Yeah, I thought about switching multi-vitamins but I also take an extra 1000ml of Vit c, Fish Oil, calcium, Vit b-12. My co-worker had the bypass surgery 5 years ago and she remembers achy muscles and feeling tired. It’s worth it. I’ve lost 24 pounds and it hasn’t been that hard. I wish it was like his book and 10 pounds a week. I’d rather be…[Read more]

Hi Dr Lewis. I had some questions about chewing sugar free gum. Is it allowed? I am feeling really sluggish, still. I take vitamins and now take some liquid "miracle" juice with lunch. It only has 15 calories but it is supposed to help fight fatigue and free radicals. Do you have any suggestions? My daughter-in-law has been on and off Atkins…[Read more]

KCulmer– Thank you SO SO SO much for that!! My husband tells me that not everyone who serves this country wears a uniform, and I have the toughest job in the military– keeping the home fires lit. Firstly, welcome! Delighted to have you aboard!
The first week shows you the potential of the program if you are able to stay focused to that degree. It is amazing, though, how just a small increment in bite-size can significantly slow your weight loss rate. Even then, 27.5 pounds in 3 weeks is amazing (compared to any other diet…[Read more]
