I don’t. I guess if I had to recommend one I would take an orange-flavored, chewable, Centrum … because that’s what I used to take.

Correct. For most people, they never get their portions sizes small enough to make a difference in their weight, and they give up trying. You, on the other hand, are eating the perfect amount to make a dramatic difference in your weight and to lose ALL of it, leaving you in a truly spectacular position. When you are there you will eat small to…[Read more]

I love that, Matt! For the naysayers, you might even try a comeback like: “You are right. This diet is crazy. It’s only works for very few people. I wouldn’t try it, if I were you. But I’m one of the lucky guys whose body can handle it!”

Yes indeed! Start by going out and buying a Snickers bar. You don’t even have to eat one, but you should cut it into 5 equal portions to get an idea of what a bite size should be. Nothing more!!

The Chats (have you not seen them? They are part of the first thread on the community) are a chance to video conference with me personally. It’s like having office hours with me from anywhere in the world! Often it’s just one or two people with me, so I can really hone in on your particular hang-ups and we can tackle those. Honestly, my off…[Read more]

Don’t worry about this, Pia. But right now, when you overeat, you WAY overeat. I can remember times when I used to eat two 12″ Subway sandwiches for lunch. That’s a TON of food. (Granted, I was running 50 miles/week, so I thought I was burning the calories, but I wasn’t–I kept gaining weight). If you had told me at that time I would neve…[Read more]

Canker sores can be due to trauma, stress, or viral infections. They are not a result of what you are eating or what you are not eating (unless you are eating, say, uncooked cactus with the spines still intact). With you, the canker sores are probably stress induced. But so what? They are short lived, and the discomfort is easily con…[Read more]

And food will win from time to time. Particularly when you are done with the journey. At that point everything in moderation. But sometimes you will even moderate moderation and totally splurge. But no big deal, because at that point you know how to lose weight, and, frankly, losing weight is EASY when you are close to your finish line. Re…[Read more]

Hi Alexsie! Welcome!
Yes: Fat cells secrete a bunch of these tiny inflammatory chemicals called cytokines. IL-1, IL-6, TNF-alpha are just a few. We know of 50 different cytokines that are produced by fat cells. The cytokines are the beginning of a cascade of chemical reactions that drive our immune system into a state of chaos, thereby lea…[Read more]

Great job, Matt Overcoming those two challenges are HUGE. You now know how to do it. You know what it feels like. You realize that not only can you overcome strong temptations when they occur, but it feels REALLY GOOD to do so! You might even look forward to the next time you are tempted with way too much food just to be able to conf…[Read more]

Thanks Matt. The chats are under the first thread of The Community. I am trying to see if I can separate out that section so visually it will be more obvious that the Chat section is different from the rest of the discussion topics.

I TOTALLY agree with you, Pia. It’s a shame more people don’t want to be thin! And it’s a shame more people don’t truly understand how unhealthy the fat is.

I’m sorry you were ill, Matt. Good work with the 3 pounds despite your sickness. BUT … and especially when you are sick … you don’t need to eat no matter how “weak” you feel. At the time when you are most sick your sugars are actually high, and eating only makes them higher! Eating does not make your “stronger” unless you are suffering fro…[Read more]

Right. Sometimes you have to imagine that you ARE incarcerated–stuck in jail or on a deserted island with no access to food. You have to play that imaginary game despite being surrounded by food. The key, though, is to set your hungerstat so that hunger doesn’t push you over the edge. Stay strong. Play the imaginary game and ALWAYS WIN!.
