Sure. Of course. The key is to eat something of the same size and volume until your hungerstat is set precisely to that amount, then you are free to eat anything you want as long as it, too, is that exact same amount (5 bites worth of food).

Hi Angela!
You can absolutely lose an intense amount of weight if you put all of your efforts into following the diet. If you are that serious about achieving a state of health and fitness utopia (and everyone should be!), you are definitely in the right place. You’ve had success with this diet before, but now let’s push it to the extreme. …[Read more]

That’s huge. A really good day can start a momentum shift that will ultimately take you across the finish line. Now that you’ve got one perfect day under your belt, and knowing that the second day should be even easier, make it happen. From now on, and until you are skinny, stop eating after 5 bites. You won’t remember the 6th bite tom…[Read more]

OK. What’s done is done. The great thing is you didn’t have much of a set back. So, start fresh today! As soon as you finish your first meal having stopped at exactly five bites, you are going to feel GREAT! You’ll feel like you didn’t miss a step.

Maybe go and take a long pre-bed bath. Read a book. Just get away from the kitchen!!

I agree. You do feel, cleaner, sharper, and healthier right from the get-go when you do this diet … and when you feel a little “empty.” It’s a really healthy, GOOD feeling!!

No, it really doesn’t happen. You still breathe the same rate that you always breathe. If you body were to “adapt” to your intake and you were to stop losing weight, then you must also breathe out much more slowly and infrequently. That just doesn’t happen. It would also imply that all of your internal organs are suddenly functioning at a mor…[Read more]

Yes, Smaro: good job. I now understand (I replied to your 5-pound weight loss before I read this thread.) If you are comfortable on 20 bites, how about decreasing that number to 10 this week?

You are breaking YEARS of habit and eating patterns; it’s tough! Sip on hot water at the night wanes on. After your five bite dinner, start chewing gum and chew it through the night. Close your eyes and imagine how you are going to look at the finish line; that should help you muster the extra will you need to avoid eating. But PLEASE fin…[Read more]

GREAT! And remember that, ultimately, GERD is a result of weight. Even before Prilosec (which works great) the first-line therapy for GERD is weight loss!

I am so sorry for both of your losses. This disease has indeed knocked us all for a loop. But right, Rachel, you NEED to focus on you. You NEED to strengthen your immune system, which means you HAVE to lose weight. There is no other way of doing it. I doubt the bars are given you heartburn. More likely, you have gastritis from excess acid…[Read more]

You got it! I’m so happy for you! It certainly makes being hungry last week worth it, doesn’t it?!

Brilliant! Now that you are already feeling better, put that good feeling to good, productive use. Recommit to the diet. Recommit to a dream future. Recommit to a life that is exceptional. And everything will start falling into place once you get back into the weight-loss groove.

I totally hear you, Doom. You’re right: eating is one of the greatest downtimes or pastimes we have. It is fun; it is relaxing; it feels good. But do you know what’s even better than all of those things? Being skinny. Feeling skinny. Looking skinny. And then being able to eat until you are full to boot! That’s really fun. So, while th…[Read more]
