drlewis replied to the topic Dr. Lewis– question about meds in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 17 years, 9 months ago

First you need to decide if you need medication to help you get through your husband’s deployment. Although exercise IS NOT the way to lose weight, it is a wonderful way to raise your serotonin levels. (Fluoxetine is an SSRI, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which is the other way to raise your serotonin levels.) When you raise…[Read more]

Georgia – for the next few days, LOOK FORWARD to being hungry. You WANT to be hungry. In fact, you want to starve. You can’t wait to get shaky and light-headed. See how much ‘torture’ you can bring upon your body–and prove to yourself how resilient your body actually is. (Love forcing your body to eat the fat more than you want to have…[Read more]

I think you should start eating ‘normal’ food. Get used to being able to eat 5 and exactly 5 bites of whatever is sitting in front of you, and then having the ability (the extraordinary self-control) to then throw everything away. Once you have developed the power to throw food away after 5 bites, you will FLY through the rest of this diet, and…[Read more]

Yes–you are eating more than 5 small bites twice a day. You have to be.
Just to prove it to yourself–check your bowel movements. You should only be having 1 BM about every 4 days to a week. If you are having them more frequently, where are they coming from? Your body can’t create poop from nothing!! Check this–you’ll surprise yourself at…[Read more]

Solid work by your husband. Please congratulate him for me. And, as best as you can, follow his example.

I kind of agree with arealqty1 – As long as one has a few at a time, they are not taking in very many calories and they won’t suffer as a result. BUT, she shouldn’t be swallowing a bunch of tic-tacs: rather, just suck on them as they were intended to be used.

You’re going to get there–no doubt–but just keep stepping in the right direction. We are all here to motivate you. Yes, i would love for you to lose 15 pounds per week, because I think it makes the whole process easier, but if you want to lose 5 pounds per week that OK with me. Just keep eating a lot less and you will get…[Read more]

Yep. It’s never the wrong time to start again. And every time you do eat a lot less (hopefully only 5 bites) it counts, and it means that your going to be just that much lighter than you would have been had you eaten more. Try and put as many successful meals back to back, and before long it will just become second nature to eat tiny meals.…[Read more]

Thanks for the great story. And thanks for the compliment at the end, though I’m sure other docs out there have thought about recommending a similar diet and just haven’t voiced it. But thanks.

Yes. I did it. I went from 190 to 137 in about 24 days. During this time my bite count was fairly consistent, but I never cheated. I would have 5 bites of something in the Doctor’s Lounge at the hospital for lunch, and then I usually stopped by In-N-Out (a burger joint in California) or an Italian Hole-In-The-Wall and had five bites for…[Read more]

Don’t get discouraged. There are times when we all eat more than we should. That is part of life. But just get started back on track as soon as you can. Your weight loss shouldn’t slow down, but obviously, now you also have to lose the extra amount you ate. But no big deal…just get excited about the finished result and savor…[Read more]

Excuse me, but you are wrong. Dr. Gerber and his group, published in the International Journal of Obesity, showed that the thinner someone is, for both men and women, down through a BMI of (actually 18), the longer and healthier they live. This study was a randomized, double-blinded study involving 100,000 people. It is the best study…[Read more]

Good so far…not great, but good. However, ‘protein’ bars will not speed up the process. Where ever did you hear such a thing? There is no science that demonstrates ingesting amino acids accelerates fat consumption. Amazing what you hear out there, though.

drlewis replied to the topic Question : Skin after weight loss. in the forum The Slimming Station Diet 17 years, 10 months ago
Shebih –
You have more than 100 pounds to lose, and at your height you are going to have left over skin. BUT, at 110, you will appear to have a lot less excess skin than at, say, 140. At 140 you will still have ‘clumps’ of fat in the skin folds which will make your skin look ‘saggy’. However, as you continue to use up all your fat, those folds…[Read more]

Exactly. As you progress along this diet, you will only develop hunger during those 2 time, and 5 bites will fill you up each time. Fantastic, isn’t it?
