  • Rae –

Without a doubt, you will lose the 15 pounds you want to lose in LESS THAN 1 week if you follow your above plan. But if you think that you are eating perfectly and yet you do not drop 15 pounds in 1 week you are deceiving yourself.

In regards to skipping a period, this is not unexpected with significant weight loss.

I think gum is good, particularly if it keeps you from snacking (food and gum don’t mix). : )

  • Good work at getting to this point!

  • Tadpole – I think your numbers look fine, but PLEASE discuss them with your doctor. You have a lot of good cholesterol (which helps to counteract the bad effect of the bad cholesterol) and your triglycerides are low. Ideally your LDL should be around 100 (unless you have diabetes or have had a heart attack, in which case it should be even…[Read more]

  • Why bother with the water/juice fast? I guess the water fast is OK, but the juice fast has a lot of calories in it–and you will likely take in more calories drinking juices than you would eating five bites.

You CAN drop 15 pounds per week, but you have to be perfect. It’s not easy, but very, very worth it. And its not hard from a physical…[Read more]

  • Firstly, I cannot give medical advice on line. But I can give you some general information: There are essentially 2 kinds of people with high cholesterol. (By the way, we are talking about a high LDL. Based on your weight, I KNOW your triglyceride levels are low, low, and your HDL levels are high, high, which are great!!) About half of those…[Read more]

    Rae-

You will definitely never regain the weight. The FBD gives you the ability to drop weight easily, should you ever need to again, and you will develop this extraordinary sense of control that makes maintaining your weight very, very easy. Then you feel uniquely powerful!

In regards to what to say to your mother, simply tell her that, for…[Read more]

  • Absolutely right! You would MUCH RATHER be in the place you are now than at the same weight even 1 month from now. Just imagine being thin, thin for your Thanksgiving Day family gathering, and being skinny for Christmas, where you can over-eat, flaunt it, and not feel the least bit guilty! So just endure the next couple of weeks and your life…[Read more]

  • Good luck. I hope all is well with your family.

  • Bethany – Have whatever is convenient for you. Divide whatever Snickers Bar you settle on into five bites, and let each one of those bites become the standard for what a ‘normal’ bite size is for you. Then, whenever you eat and irrespective of what you eat, eat just five bites.

Whether you are eating the 58 gm snickers or the 20 gm snickers, it…[Read more]

  • Good luck. You are almost there, and I would love for you to sprint to the finish line. So just go, go, go!

Don’t be afraid of the future. There will ALWAYS be ‘big’ events just around the corner, and you need to learn to conquer each and every one of them. OK, you may lose the battle on a few, but a ‘few’ won’t make a difference in the long run. And once you reach your target goal you’ll find that you can indulge more often than you…[Read more]

  • I do not think that your thyroid is the problem, but you should see your doctor and have it checked just to be sure. Your body, simply stated, cannot survive on 0 calories. You can’t create energy from nothing! Every unit of heat that radiates from your body is coming from the break-down of sugar. Every time you breathe you are blowing out…[Read more]

  • This is absolutely not true. Anymore that those who have had a gastric bypass are in fear of losing their muscles. Remember–we are not doing anything different than what they do, and they’ve been FORCED to eat LESS and endure multiple post-operative complications for the rest of their lives.

Do we worry about the bears that go 7 months without…[Read more]

  • Yes–I cream melts and is considered a liquid. Still, you can have five bites of it, if you want, for a meal, but that’s it. Granted, you may not fill up on it, as it quickly turns to liquid, but from a hunger standpoint it is probably better to eat five bites of an ice cream than to skip that meal completely.

However! Don’t eat your ice cream…[Read more]

  • You might be a little dehydrated, so drink more water. Remember: a lot of the water that we normally ingest in a day comes in the form of solid food. When you body becomes dehydrated you will invariably develop a headache.

  • Welcome, Mean7gene –

I think you’ve got this–right on! There is no doubt in my mind that you are going to have great success and will live your life thin, fit, and empowered like never before! Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Again, don’t obsess with the calories. Five bites are five bites. If you eat 5 bites of a carrot you are eating about 15 calories, and 5 bites of a Snickers bar is 280. Relative to what you are currently eating, they both are negligible. Moreover, you will be FULL on those 5 bites, whatever they are, in just a few days. So I’m with you on…[Read more]

  • Yes. Some. I don’t know exactly how much, but there are fewer calories in protein than in carbs/sugar. So, if you would RATHER eat protein, do so. But five bites, no matter how calorie dense they are, are still only five bites, and en toto you are not taking in a big difference in calories one way or another.
