  • Great to hear your experiences. This is wonderful! Keep up the great work!

  • Yes. If all you eat are 2 Snickers a day, and take a multivitamin, you will do great. You need nothing more. The ‘stress’ of losing weight can cause hair loss, but we’ll see if that affects you. It only affects a very small portion of people who do this (in my experience < 1%).

As you tend to lose weight and become healthier, you’re tastes…[Read more]

  • This is a great story, Shannon. Please tell me (and everyone here), having eaten just 10 bites of food each day for the last 5 days, exactly how hungry are you? Please be honest. How often do you think about food? When you focus on your hunger, how bad is it really? How many times per day are you ‘bothered’ by your stomach growling? And…[Read more]

  • Welcome Davielee!

Delighted to have you as part of the group. At your weight you could (should) lose 18-20 pounds the first week. It will taper after that, but how much depends on how strict you are with your eating and how determined you are to finish the program. The sooner you are finished, the sooner your new, spectacular life begins. So…[Read more]

  • With every post, Shannon, you make me more excited. I KNOW your hungerstat is resetting, which will make the whole process amazingly easy. You will be a tremendous inspiration for everyone here.

I think CLA is a bunch of hocus pocus. Just a waste of money. That is my opinion. You do not need to worry about ‘burning muscle’. It doesn’t happen, until ALL of your fat stores are depleted, and by that point you will be about 80 pounds.

  • Beautiful!! You are doing great!

I actually recommend, rather than trying to estimate a 5-Bite meal, just surround yourself with food and from it take only 5 bites. It makes you feel amazing.

  • Just imagine where you are going, how healthy you will be, and how spectacular you will feel. Then let that drive you to the finish line.

You mention that you ate like a pig over the last few days. Which of the extra bites of whatever you ate were so spectacular that you can still taste them? None. I didn’t think so. Remember this as you sit…[Read more]

  • Yes, our weights fluctuate throughout the day, but not for some ‘unknown’ reason. They fluctuate based on the net weight of everything that enters and leaves the body. Water and fluids DO weigh a lot, but your water balance over 24° stays the same. If not, we would all swell up like sponges or dessicate like prunes. If you drink A LOT of…[Read more]

  • Good. It sounds like you are right on track.

Once you get into this diet, you look forward to your five bites because you look forward to the FLAVOR of the food, more than anything. You really begin to appreciate the flavor of food when on this diet. And for sure you don’t want to ‘waste’ your five bites on less-than-tasteworthy food.

    Stay…[Read more]

  • Hi Thinalinda!

Wow! You’ve have done an incredible job keeping your daily food diary. Thanks. Although I haven’t gone through everything yet, a few things strike me:

    1) You are obsessed with calories. I don’t care about how many calories are in anything. All I want to know about are bites. Calories of a given food may or may not be…[Read more]

  • I don’t know. Scope? May swallow a little swig after you’ve finished gargling? And then I recommend a cup of black coffee in the morning–it should help mask any halitosis as well.

  • Emailahshea –

I’m excited for you. I have a feeling you will do SPECTACULAR with this plan. The 5BD is a tool that you can wield whenever yo need to to maintain a precise, perfect weight. Get excited about the finished product, and just go for it!

In regards to ‘not a lot’ of activity on this site, we are fairly new. With time I think you…[Read more]

  • Today is as good as any other to start. So go for it! Great on the no breakfast thing, but why just ice and water for lunch? I recommend eating something of ‘substance’ for lunch (but just five bites) and get into this very comfortable, sustainable regimen that will carry you through to the finish line. You could expect to be skinny by March,…[Read more]

  • Welcome Shea! Delighted to have you aboard.

I think you will find this forum a great place to get your questions answered and to find support from other people who have already reached their goal and others on their way there. I do recommend, though, getting a copy of the book and using it as a quick reference and as a motivational tool. Good luck!

  • Hi Linda.

Firstly, thanks for the post and for your willingness to engage in this conversation. I think there are a lot of people who are in your shoes that will benefit from this dialog.

I want to try and figure out exactly what is going on. Losing 10 pounds, then 2, then 2, then 2 is not physiologic, so there HAS to be something going on…[Read more]

  • I’m Sorry, Thinalinda. I don’t mean to insult you in any way. But I am a scientist, and science is science. Facts are facts. You can not convince me, no matter how hard you try, that 1 + 1 = 3. I just won’t believe, no matter how ’emphatically’ you insist that 1 + 1 = 3, that 1 + 1 is indeed 3. A human being, no matter how slow their…[Read more]

  • Thinalinda – at this rate–only 2 pounds a week–you would have essentially maintained your weight, had you been captured during WWII and placed in a concentration camp. Simply stated, you CAN’T only lost 2 pounds per week and 3 bites bid. So the extra bites are getting in–somehow, some way. Maybe you are sleep-eating? I don’t know, but the…[Read more]

  • Yep. That’s all it is. But, the Wellbutrin actually suppresses your appetite, and the two medications are well tolerated together.

  • Hi Leanne. Welcome back.
Paxil stimulates your appetite more than any other SSRI. It may work the best for anxiety, but it also MAKES you want to eat more. It does not, however, contain any calories. SO…just be strict even though you might be hungrier than usual, you should be able to control it by eating the same amount of food for each…[Read more]
