Thanks, Shelly.
If I were you, I’d keep this journey to yourself as much as possible. If your friends ask you if you are still on that “crazy diet,” tell them that you’ve put it on hold for awhile. But quietly go forward on your journey. You husband will know, and those of us here. But mostly it’s all about you. You are doing this for you.…[Read more]

Pia: Don’t worry–just hang in there. When you settle at your ideal weight, you metabolism will pick up and enable you to stick there quite easily. You will see. Granted, you shouldn’t finish everything you see, nor should you want to. But you should be able to taste everything you see and have enough bites of each thing to be happy and…[Read more]

I content that your first reading was probably more accurate. The second was higher because of the rush of excitement from the first. But wait ’till a week’s gone by. You are going to be THRILLED!!! :cheer:

Thanks for sharing this with us, Shelly. Yes–we all should be losing weight primarily for our health. Extra fat cause both inflammatory damage, mediated by cytokine production that causes metabolic disease (hypertension, high triglycerides, low good cholesterol, elevate uric acid and gout, kidney insufficiency eventually leading to kidney…[Read more]

If you eat a Snickers bar in 8 bites, then your bites are small. Fine. Then take 8 bites for every meal. But please don’t exaggerate the size of those bites–you need to keep them consistent. You will do very well. :cheer:

Ah … but focus on the fact that it feels SO GOOD when you are perfect. So keep trying and trying again. Overtime you do, you feel great. And eventually, the good feeling you get from being perfect overrides your enjoyment of eating extra bites of food, and you will fall into the weight-loss groove beautifully. Until then, just keep working…[Read more]

You guys are doing great.
Pia–if you still have extra that you don’t like, YES! Keep going! Your body will just live off that stored fuel until it’s gone. You need to have some reserve on the body, but you’ll know when you start to delve into your final reserve and it’s time to stop losing weight. You are so close! Aren’t you excited!

Shelly–I have told you for years that Breakfast, for you at this point, is deadly. It is expressly forbidden in the 5-Bite plan. All it does is keep your hungerstat turned up, and the extra weight is shortening your lifespan. That is undeniable. So why have you all of a sudden bought into this whole “breakfast is so important” hype? I don’t…[Read more]

Great, Shelly! Welcome back. You know what you have to do, and you’ve done it before, so as hard as it is for you, just imagine how much harder it is for someone else like you who doesn’t have your experience with this diet. That puts you yards ahead of the crowd already. Now, with that lead and that advantage, stay committed and focused. The…[Read more]

The beautiful thing about this diet is that you are always on … and often off. We just want, in the end, to put together more “on” days than “off” days. But life happens.
But when you have fallen hard, and given that you TRULY want to be thin, then just start again at that moment. Make the personal, internal commitment to finish this race,…[Read more]

You’re doing great, Pia. Like Beth says, just hang in there. You’ve got this. Just let the time pass. Even watching 3 motion pictures in a row is VERY PRODUCTIVE, as long as you don’t involve food.

Pia — you ARE going to get headaches, shaky, etc. You know this. You’ve read about it. Except it, and look forward to it. BRING IT ON! Since you know you are going to feel these things, let’s just see how bad those symptoms can become. See if your body can throw something at you that is unbearable. When put in perspective, these symptoms…[Read more]

This is why it helps so much to have a rigid program to follow. I don’t care what you eat, but I do care about the number of bites you take. Be exact. Be consistent. Although you will go into the meal thinking that you need more, you will always leave the meal surprise and thrilled that those 5 bites did the job!!
And again, all success stems…[Read more]

Just to clear things up, Pia, you DEFINITELY want to go on. Maybe another 10 pounds? You will be so thank that you did it once you are there!
For now, take is step by step. Staying perfect for a week might seem overwhelming, but just be perfect today and afford yourself the ability to cheat a little tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, you may…[Read more]

Shelly–NO! Start there in Alaska! Why not? Pick 5 of the best looking food items, take a bite of each one, and be done with it! You may remember those five bites later, but if you eat a lot of food just to eat it, you won’t remember any of it later.
