So as advised, I’m starting my own journal. I didn’t loose that much this week, but hoping to loose 20 pounds for August. I am good at sticking to the 5 bites, but have slipped up with too much alcohol and a coffee bean I bought had added sugar to it. So back to my old coffee and tea for now. I am actually down 12 pounds total, but had a slow…[Read more]

No adverse effects. Just trying to get rid of my sore knees and hips. I went rowing for the first time in a long time. Felt a lot more comfortable with my weight but want to loose 20 pounds this month.

Anybody else experience numbness and tingling of their limbs? I feel it when sitting or if anything is pressing up against my arms or legs even if it is very lightly.

Consider asking for a small plate and a to-go box with your meal. Scrape what you think is about 5 bites onto the smaller plate, put the remainder in the to go box and eat your five bites. Your friends will be astonished at your willpower (at least mine are). Send the to go box home with friends. If you do this you can’t really go overboard be…[Read more]

I’ve been off track for a week, with video and photo shoots at work, having to take our talent out to dinner at 8 p.m., early mornings, meals on the road and entertaining vendors. In short, I was really out of my element… my controlled element where I am in control of what is around me, when I eat and my own schedule. But at the end of the…[Read more]

I am doing 5 bites again strictly as I have been going way over board on the weekends. I need to learn how to just eat 5 bites when eating out. Eating out is the biggest obstacle for me.

Days 13 and 14
13 Lunch was 3 bites of almond bar, 2 bites of almond joy from a friend. Dinner was amazing Indian food. I was served a huuge amount of food, sampled a bite from my friend who I was eating with, and the rest from my own entree, then gave him the rest of it without flinching. Felt really physically exhausted as nighttime rolled…[Read more]

Ok, I am going to start this diet. Will it get easier after the first three days? I still like my coffee, but I use stevia for sweetener and just a dash of almond milk. I do like to go to the gym about 3/4 times a week and go hiking when I can. I want to like the way I look in pictures. At the moment, I don’t. I am about a size 8 and 5’4”. I want…[Read more]

Thank you both, you’re both so right, yes I think being already close to goal and knowing it can be done in no time definitely plays in my mind and I don’t really feel to be on a diet during my holiday but I don’t feel to walk around on the beach feeling fat either, and why not just get over and done with it then I can enjoy another holiday with…[Read more]

YES! It IS amazing how you feel fuller when you count each bite. Really hone in on each bite. To take this technique to the extreme, journal each and every bite you take! Taste each bite like a sommelier samples wine in a wine competition; let the flavors roll over your tongue. You don’t need to spit it out, of course, but after each bite…[Read more]

I totally agree with AAL. The first and MOST IMPORTANT step is the next one. It’s the next meal. It’s eating it perfectly. I want you to go into it scared, anxious, excited. I want you to take five little bites, and throw the rest away. And you are OFF! That was the hardest step. NOW, just keep one foot going in front of the other. You wi…[Read more]

Great. I also think that EVERYONE should have their own “Journal” page. It encourages everyone to put more energy into this process, and it makes it easier for others to follow their progress. So please journal, everyone!

Or better yet, Kmarie, just commit to a once-a-week weigh in. I find that I do BEST when I don’t have access to a scale, because it forces me to be ever so vigilant of the food I eat. I don’t eat carelessly when I don’t have a way of regulating my intake. But try the weigh-only-on-Mondays technique. The rest of the time, you KNOW your los…[Read more]

I’ve found the scale can either encourage me or completely side track me. If I’ve lost weight I do better with my bites. If the scale shows no loss or a gain I feel like just giving up. I think the best thing for me is only weigh when I know I’ve had a perfect day before.

I love reading all the posts. I’m keeping up with everyone’s progress. It really does help to know we aren’t doing this alone. I’m in the wings cheering you all on.
I’m going to start watching the chats for more motivation and tips.

So yesterday was a better day but still not perfect. I had a small bowl of chips, a chicken patty and a glass of wine. Today I am down 2 1/2lbs from yesterday. Today will be even better. I KNOW beyond doubt this DOES work. I just need to stick it out until the end.

Can you do one perfect day? Agree with yourself to just do one little perfect day? And then…. the next day just one perfect little day… no big deal… then one more…. It’s the conversation I have with myself every morning, I simply agree to one more perfect day, just one at a time, and I’ve a nice string of 25 perfect days already. If I read…[Read more]
