Breakfast finished, mischief managed!Down a another half lb today, keeping my habit structures going. Some new thoughts and feelings have come up that I’ve had to combat a bit:
sabotaging thought: “Only half a lb down, this is going to take forever!”
Response: “It will take longer if I give up and don’t push myself forward. It’s guaranteed to…[Read more]

Hello Day 5!!
Well I made it through yesterday. There were some tricky moments – but they were only moments. So glad I stayed on plan. I wasn’t close to going off. Today will be jam packed and I am am going to mentally focus and get ready. I may try new bars because the artificial sugar in the bars I’m eating may be wreaking havoc on my belly. I…[Read more]

Great observation SCS!!
When I think about how fleeting those extra bites are – I wonder why I partake? Literally the only difference of taking those extra bites is a few more seconds or minutes of enjoyment. Unfortunately – I don’t feel more satisfied. I just want more and more anyway. Waking up with a flatter stomach and less fat around my body…[Read more]

Great job! One day flows into the next. Time marches on quickly. Might as well make it well spent.

Anyone have ideas for savory bars instead of sweets like snickers that may fit the bill? Cannot believe I’m saying this, as im a chocoholic.

2nd meal went well today, keeping strong, drinking coffee and water, reminding myself what I’m trying to accomplish.

Yes, Dr Lewis, the first few bites of the potatoes were amazing, for sure. The last few bites were repetitive and the deliciousness had a diminishing return.
Great suggestion, spiderchlome! I had a cup of tea after my lunch today and it was the perfect warming comforting “ending” to my meal! And thanks for the weight loss encouragement, too

Hi Chloe –
Thanks for responding so thoughtfully! I greatly appreciate it!! I try to do the same. I enjoy the communication. It helps to keep us motivated and on track. It also gives us some ideas and useful perspective. In addition to a mindset shift, having the smaller portions and resetting that hunger stat is a physiological change that…[Read more]

I know that horrible feeling as well, it helps to remember how bad that feels when you sense yourself thinking about eating a 6th bite, instant deterrent. Also if you’re looking for something hot and comforting, tea and coffee can really do the trick. like if the thought is “aw but these potatoes are so warm and comforting” you can respond with…[Read more]

I find that part about the not eating anything put in front of you vs fighting your cravings. The switchover to that mindset is the craziest thing I’ve experienced regarding this diet and it is a total superpower. So much so that it’s hard to believe that we’re capable of it! In fact I did the same thing and went back to watch old videos to see…[Read more]

@drlewis I love that phrase “the gradual and comfortable snuffing of hunger”. Because I’m taking so much time (20 min total) to finish the meal, the sense of wanting to be done overrides the excitement of eating even by the time I get to the 3rd bite! I have also had success with just eating 5 bites real quick and moving on with it so I don’t want…[Read more]

Hey Tonia –
I am doing bars too! They are the best for me to reset and detach from food and all the temptation it brings. Dr. Lewis said I could put a bit of creamer in my coffee. It has not interrupted my weight loss. I don’t make it light.
I was exactly where you were before recommitting. I went to a friend’s house and it seemed impossible to…[Read more]

Hi Dr. Lewis-
I was so busy all day. It was a less hungry day than usual. The mid to late morning was tough but I rode it out. 2 bars and drinks and DONE!
Weight this morning…DRUM ROLL…122.4. Today day 4. Started at 128.4. The best part is the cravings have stopped. I can also see the appetite going down.
That chat with you Monday night…[Read more]

YES!!!! YES!!!
So, yesterday at the chat you said you were quite hungry, and rightly so. But how about today–day #3? How is your hunger?

For sure it will help. Come her often and spend time reading/watching. Your objective here is to get thin and live an extraordinary, exceptional life. Toward that end, every moment of time that you can spend doing something that doesn’t involve food is time well spent.

I love that. When you become this aware of the process of eating–the flavor of the food, the texture of the food, the after tastes of food (and coffee!), the gradual and comfortable snuffing of hunger–a few things happen:
1. Food tastes better–obviously–because you are really focusing on the food itself. When you commit to something, do it…[Read more]

YES, SCS!!! You have experienced the true power of setting your hungerstat. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Although the actual size of your stomach (of course) hasn’t changed a bit, those stretch receptors really do not want to be over taxed, and they’ll make you feel horrible if you try to push the limits. Simply stated, extra food is not worth it.…[Read more]
