OK. What’s done is done. The great thing is you didn’t have much of a set back. So, start fresh today! As soon as you finish your first meal having stopped at exactly five bites, you are going to feel GREAT! You’ll feel like you didn’t miss a step.

I kind of messed up the last three days. It has been a national holiday and food was abundand. We were invited to my mother’s house and she also packed food for us to take when we were leaving. Fried stuff and everything. I ate more than i should. Not bingeing like i used to, but more than my counted bites. I did not gain the last three days,…[Read more]

Maybe go and take a long pre-bed bath. Read a book. Just get away from the kitchen!!

Day 5, Saturday 3/27
Keeping it real – I caved last night and ate about 20 extra bites. I need to figure out some ways to deal with the evening binges.

I agree. You do feel, cleaner, sharper, and healthier right from the get-go when you do this diet … and when you feel a little “empty.” It’s a really healthy, GOOD feeling!!

No, it really doesn’t happen. You still breathe the same rate that you always breathe. If you body were to “adapt” to your intake and you were to stop losing weight, then you must also breathe out much more slowly and infrequently. That just doesn’t happen. It would also imply that all of your internal organs are suddenly functioning at a mor…[Read more]

I actually enjoy the light feeling of an empty stomach. I also think faster, smarter and more efficiently when i have an empty stomach. Like i had a good rest or something.

Day 4, Friday 3/26
It seemed impossible.
However, I made it through the night without the extra eating!
I listened to some audio books about recovering from binge eating. I also watched some YouTube videos by a popular bariatric surgeon, talking about the need to eat small and the importance of not overeating after surgery. I v…[Read more]

10 bites a day is my goal and i will get there soon! I will definitely decrease the bites to 18 this week, i want to get there slowly without my brain “realizing” it !!!
I am curious about something i have been reading, dr Lewis… What about adaptation to low calories? Diet and fitness experts claim that after a few days, the body adapts to the…[Read more]

Yes, Smaro: good job. I now understand (I replied to your 5-pound weight loss before I read this thread.) If you are comfortable on 20 bites, how about decreasing that number to 10 this week?

You are breaking YEARS of habit and eating patterns; it’s tough! Sip on hot water at the night wanes on. After your five bite dinner, start chewing gum and chew it through the night. Close your eyes and imagine how you are going to look at the finish line; that should help you muster the extra will you need to avoid eating. But PLEASE fin…[Read more]

Oh boy. Tonight is hard! Trying to stay focused on those goals. Wish this community had a “call a friend” hotline. LOL. I ate my two bars already for the day. Need to get through a couple more hours before it is bed time. Ug…why are evenings so hard!

Thanks Smaro.
Yeah that scale is my nemesis. I go back and forth on whether I am feeling motivated by daily numbers, or depressed by them. Also, I wonder if the daily weighing was allowing me to play tricks to see how much I can “get away” with, rather than just staying focused on my 5 bite limits.

I am sorry for your loss…
Not weighing except for weekly weigh-ins is a good decision. I also decided to stay away from the scale, too much weighing seems confusing and counterproductive.

Yesterday was the last day of week 1. I lost 5 pounds and though it might not seem much, it was a huge relief for me.
The weight loss would be much more if it had not been for a day when i ate freely, because of social sircumstances.
Had i not joined the community a week ago, my weight would now be 5 pounds more than my initial weight. I was…[Read more]

Made a decision to stay off the scales except for weekly weigh in time. So no weight update until next Tuesday.
Had a fig bar for lunch, and another for dinner yesterday. Staying focused and even added some incentive – booked a trip to Kauai for my birthday in July. I want to be beach ready!

GREAT! And remember that, ultimately, GERD is a result of weight. Even before Prilosec (which works great) the first-line therapy for GERD is weight loss!

Day 2
CW: 202
SW: 205Thank you Dr. L. Yes, this disease has rattled us all. I am woke, and ready to achieve my dreams, and get on with living my life away from the daily stress of dieting. 10 years I have been trying to lose weight, up and down the scale, enough is enough!
Despite the heartburn/stomach issues, I made it through the day ea…[Read more]
