The most common type of heart disease–atherosclerosis–dramatically benefits form weight loss, and those people should be on the diet. The authors are making an argument for caution in some people with cardiomyopathy who may suffer if they don’t get an adequate amount of protein (which would still be hard not to get, even with this diet), but…[Read more]

Day 16
Lunch: 8 bites falafel, 2 bites cinnamon roll
Dinner: 8 bites leftover falafel, 2 bites of almond bar
I used to eat the entire falafel in one sitting with fries and a bunch of the krinkle bars with other food later in the evening. Moving up to 10 bites feels like so much more food yet it is still much less than I used to eat. I am not…[Read more]

Another day done.
lunch: 5 bites of chocolate.
Dinner: snickers.
Today was hard because work was a bit boring so I had time to notice my hunger, but I got through it now I’m home and just need to take it hour by hour.

Perfect day. I have to keep saying to myself, race to the end, get this over and done with. Just running on my reserve tank. It’s my lifestyle and totally normal to have 5 bites. I’m going to be a good role model to my kids. It’s not normal to be fat and have heart disease or diabetes in your 40’s.

I’m weighing out 70 gm or 2.5 oz to be sure my bite size doesn’t go over board and I stick to the same lunch and dinner.

Breaking headlines in Australia: “Crash dieting is dangerous” Loosing weight too fast is bad for you… But only people with heart disease in the first week had to be careful/under medical supervision. And all low calorie dieters improved all health measurements beyond what they had before dieting.
The sensational news team totally omitted the…[Read more]

I have just started flavouring my old coffee with cinnamon, so it tastes a little gourmet. I have purchased these little disposable containers and measuring no more than 70 gm (2.5 oz) of food in it. I had trouble with hunger last night, and took 2 extra bites, but I think it was because I was tired and a bit dehydrated. I’m enjoying not being…[Read more]

Hi there,
Am new to this but love the feeling of control the 5 bite plan gives me. It’s brilliant. One question though. I can cope with the feelings/sensations of hunger but am struggling with low sugar levels. I am not diabetic and don’t normally have ‘hypos’ but for a couple of days now I can suddenly feel very shaky and hot and faint. Am I su…[Read more] -

Ultimately, whatever works! You can make small modifications to the diet to allay any disconcerting symptoms, but don’t veer too far off the path. We don’t want to struggle to get back on it!

Amen! This is my biggest conflict. The real me wants to be thin probably as much as I want a million dollars! I want to show up in the world as a thin person and also let thinness be my message to the world by example.
But for me, food is comfort. Food is habit. Food feels like survival. And above all, food can be so, so good. So at the end of…[Read more]

Indeed, Kmarie. The best anti-inflammatory you can take for your inflammatory diseases is: LOSE WEIGHT! It will ultimately be better than prednisone and all the immune-modifying medications you take. So, GO, GO, GO! Sprint for the finish line! Just get it done!!

My plan for this week is to do a bar for lunch and dinner M-F this week except Thursday dinner as I have an event to attend. I will stick with only 5 bites at the event.
Hoping to be down 8 lbs by Saturday morning.

Yeah I had the same idea but also figured it might be possible to avoid the side affects altogether by just doing 10 bite meals for a week and seeing if it gets any better. That way I can still keep the volume consistent instead of having one day of a bunch of eating.

Today I started work after holiday, and it makes doing 5 bites so much easier since I am busy and there is no food on offer other than the food I bring or my colleagues bring and we are not allowed to eat in the surgery only in the canteen.
Lunch was: 3 bites of chocolate my colleague offered me.
Dinner was: 3 bites of Reese’s peanut butter c…[Read more]
