I put on a pair of pants today, normally firm fitting, today loose.
I prepared nachos, had 3 bites and 2 bites of smoked rainbow trout on pumpernickel bread with cream cheese. Yum.
I thought I would enjoy a bite of a chocolate crossiant, but it was rubbish, so I spat it out. I’m taking foodie to a new extreme!!

Day 23
Yesterday I allowed myself to “top up” so to speak but I have found that eating so much is not ultimately satisfying and I seem to be able to carry over the habit of leaving food on my plate. I also found that I am actually refining my palate in the sense that I feel like I can choose the individual tastes I am looking for and let go of…[Read more]

Just starting a thread for ideas on reponses to those in our lives who find it difficult coming to terms with your new, healthier self. Dr. Lewis gave me a few ideas. Feel free to add your comebacks!!

There have been a few people in the district here who have lost their lives early. Mid 50’s and 60’s. All overweight. And the health issues people have with diabetes. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Think of all the potential disease you are getting rid of and how healthier you are even if the pounds where not as much as you liked for the week. You…[Read more]

I’m not stressing if its not as much as I wanted. If you loose 2 pounds that’s still heading in the right direction and think how much you have already lost!! 30 pounds rid of inflammatory, disease creating fat.
And your right about a slower weight loss on other diets. All the others require too much time, obsession, weighing,…[Read more] -

yeah I love indian and thai food and mediterranean, and just all of it I guess haha.
No more hiding for me, I’m seeing this thing through.
Alice-good job on keeping up with the community and sticking with it even when it was hard.
Lynda- yeah stay out of the kitchen! it is probably harder when having to prepare food for your kids

36 days down! I was super vigilant today with my bites and weighed my lunch and dinner food. Coffee for breakfast, salami with cheese for lunch, tuna casserole for dinner. I’m sticking with it and we’ll see what happens next Monday!

I agree Lynda!
Chloe, as a fellow run-and-hider, I wanted to share with you that my first instinct this morning when the scale showed only 2 pounds lost, was to hide out until next Monday where i’d hope to put up a bigger number. My fear was that people would see the 2 pounds and say, “she must not REALLY be following the plan.” But then I…[Read more]

Great job Lynda, when I make lunch for my kids, that’s a big grazing time for me so I’ve purposely bought food I don’t like for their lunches so I don’t nibble as I prepare. I make the food quick and get far away from the kitchen!
Interesting about the guy to the South Pole!

This week I lost only 2 pounds. This would usually throw me off the diet because I know I am following it 100% and 2 pounds is so little but again, I’m not going to obsess because giving up will only lead me to gain weight and 2 pounds is better than gaining. I’m just going to push through and see what next week brings! Also, by this time on any…[Read more]

The number of diets I have tried in the past and have not been able to stick to is endless. Weight watchers, low carb, low calorie, the great Australian diet, jenny craig, CSIRO diet. It’s embarrassing, but this is by far the easiest “life style change” I have made. It’s time efficient, not fostering obsessive behaviour, fits into my lifestyle…[Read more]

Hi Lynda, this definitely works much better for long term control, and you don’t have the complications and recovery from surgery! It’s great you can model a better option!

Great tip about having a variety of bites. Then I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything. I got inspiration about looking for a free to eat what you want diet but limit the amount when I went out to the top restaurant in town here. They serve bite size tasty morsels in between what you ordered. And I was thinking I would have been happy with…[Read more]

My weakness is the tiredness and hunger hitting me while I’m preparing food for the kids. I fell off the wagon twice this week 10 bites of picking at food. So I am making a point of not being in the kitchen when that hits and just doing something else until it passes. I empathise with the Thai food. I got rid of all my green curry from the…[Read more]

So I’ve lost another 4 pounds. No sugary drinks or alcohol. I did have 2 slip ups. Blew out to about 10 small bites while tired and preparing food for kids at 5pm-6pm on 2 nights. So I’ve prepared dinners so I don’t have to be around the kitchen when I’m hungry and ready to graze, tempted to pick at food.
But I’m happy with the ongoing 2 kg a…[Read more]

Fantastic Chloe! It’s great when a few people on here are all really trucking along together! (Oh but please stop with all the Thai food! I’ve been avoiding Pad Thai because it is one food that I looooooooove to eat way beyond full and I don’t feel quite ready to attempt it!)
