So just to make sure I can make it through this week as well as I can:
Read “race day” daily
Log daily
Avoid food heavy places when not in eating mode just to keep the slightest subliminal food message away
Meditate and stretch to relax and to resolve doubt/excessive rumination
Stay busy, engaged with other things, projects, etc.
Eat a…[Read more]

Great! Then let’s work with it to maximize your weight-loss potential. Again, it is so important for your health that you get the job done that I want you to put other things on the back burner and make weight loss priority #1. Then commit to five bites and get it done. You absolutely will NOT be eating like this for the rest of your lif…[Read more]

Rachel- I am not sure if I will go back to being vegan or not, something I am thinking about still.
Day 42-43

Lunch and dinner: figs w/ nuts and seeds, 5 bites
I went to bed early but not before skipping out on a dessert bar and pizza with the coworkers. I just already ate by the time they got around to doing that so it put me…[Read more]

LOL. If anyone thought that there are not other agendas, usually associated with the almighty dollar, check out Dr. Oz’s trusted partner list.

He’s selling lots of “good” oils?? Maybe snake oils to keep us consuming more than we need.

Hi Sal,
Just had a bad week the previous week, but this week, I’m just focusing in on my 5 bites then out of the kitchen. I don’t have to cook this week. So just heat and serve for the kids. Everyone is noticing my weight loss, but I have to keep focused on the next 10kg. Good luck, it works.

Hi Lynda I’m a newbie!! I love your journal … it is so awesome that you are learning your ‘cues’ for bad habits!! When I’m in the kitchen during danger time … this is odd … but all I do is think of my breathing… in out in out … I don’t consider the food I’m almost zombie like!! It works well!! Day 3 for me today … a life long journe…[Read more]

I didn’t loose too much this week. Fell off the wagon over the weekend. So back on the wagon this week. I felt like breaking out. Stress of the drought, had a few drinks. I have no tolerance to alcohol anymore. Trying not to overthink what I am doing and just get on with it.

I haven’t been on the forum or practicing 5 Bites in a few days. I have pretty much been fasting 16:8 and eating ad libitum after that, or 5:2 style fasting.
What I learned is that with my digestive issues I can’t really handle eating more than small portions of anything at once regardless of what else I am doing. During the fasting days on the…[Read more]

How and why I am here…
I haven’t always been overweight. My high school and college days were good to me. I was thin and athletic, ate a healthy vegetarian diet, and never weighed above 120lbs. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for the emotional turmoil of a toxic and abusive relationship, loss of family, and stress that came at me in wav…[Read more]

Today is my weight tracking day. Only 2 pounds down.
But…as Dr. Lewis says above, I know where my trouble spots are now: coffee creamer, wine, diet soda, large bites, and occasional slips on extra bites. I think that I am also too susceptible to temptation at social gatherings.
For these next few weeks, I am going to more deta…[Read more]

Cheese happens…LOL. 😉 Sounds like you did pretty well!
I forgot to tell you…I hadn’t lost much weight going vegan/WFPB either. Felt amazing eating healthy, but depressed with the extra weight. I even tried the potato cleanse for a few weeks that you have talked about.
Your meal tonight sounds amazing, especially compared to eating plain…[Read more]

Day 41
Lunch: grilled mozerella sandwich and a chai tea
Dinner: cactus taco and “crusted” avo taco 2 and 3 bites
I feel like i was majorly on track but i ordered a plain chai tea from starbucks and didnt quite get what i ordered. Like i think it was a chai tea latte. The barista messed up and it might add a little. A small mistake but…[Read more]

Yes!!! I am starting to approach this more day-by-day. My focus is now on getting through the current day being perfect. Rather than thinking about how long I have to keep being perfect at it. Each day I am successful I get to feel fantastic, which then gives me a feeling to recall the next day I am struggling. This seems to make it more m…[Read more]

OK. The whole journey is a learning process. You will figure out what works for you and what doesn’t work for you. So bad weeks are important too–to point out what you shouldn’t be doing.
While the long-term benefits of being thin are spectacular, you don’t have to wait until you cross the finish line to already reap benefits. EVERY TIME you…[Read more]

Thanks!!!! I am going to try some of these ideas out. Especially in the evening when I am tired, emotionally drained and feeling weak minded. My numbers for weight loss haven’t been great so far this week, and I know I am capable of doing so much better.
