Hey Matt, well done for coming back, if you’re finding social eating difficult maybe cut down on social events for a few weeks until it gets easier, it’s for your own wellbeing, it would be so much easier if we could go to a rehab center for food addicts and be served just 5 bites for lunch and 5 bites for dinner, but this is real life and we hav…[Read more]

Day 39
Breakfast: strudel
Lunch: Vegan Chicken and ravioli
One of my housemates started getting really curious about what I have been doing to lose weight and asked a lot of questions. It was nice to have answers for her.

I think that’s another issue we need to deal with. The fact that others have their own issues with weight and will unintentionally sabotage our weight loss. We need to do this for US not for anyone else otherwise we will fail. Sure I want others to notice how skinny I am and how good I look but ultimately it’s for me and me alone.
I was per…[Read more]

I hadn’t seen my mother in 5 weeks. She said “you are not going to fall down are you?” I said, “What do you mean?” She was implying that if I get too skinny I will be too weak to stand?? I replied “Actually, I’m able to do more now that I’m more mobile and it’s the exact opposite.” There is always going to be someone who is negative, but I know…[Read more]

I’ve been thinking about this so much lately. Ballooned up to 204lbs and it definitely feels that way!
I’m really struggling with the social aspect of eating right now. The irony is that I’m always talking about 5-bites, and they never actually see me “perform” it, if that makes sense.
I need to get back to journaling like before, and even going…[Read more]

‘Now I keep eating even after I’m full. I think about food and what going to eat all day now.’ I’m like that too, but we are changing the habits and gaining control, sometimes we may fail but then we get up and keep going because we don’t want the extra weight we want to be skinny and we want to gain control of the food not the other way around le…[Read more]

Wow! Such amazing advice. Thank you Dr Lewis for reminding me to just keep it simple. I think the main reason I failed last time was I was so worried about gaining all the weight back so just kind of gave up.
Lynda your post really opened my eyes. You really know your stuff. You’re so right about the food industry wanting to make money and re…[Read more]

A little update from me, the last 3-4 days have been good, yesterday can’t remember what I ate 3-4 days ago😉, but yesterday lunch I had 5 bites of bread with danish blue cheese, I binned the rest, and in the evening I had snickers, perfect day.
Today for lunch we had a clinic meeting and ordered some deli sandwiches, I was worried that I w…[Read more]

LOL. I agree. There’s no point in naming and shaming. There’s plenty of FA movement on the food channel. Overweight commentators digging into the supersizes. I would prefer to share with my less fortunate associates. I like the “normalize” observation. Media is so much about changing the perception and not the reality or the outcome.

Yesterday was a not so perfect day. I did well until the evening when I skipped yoga and decided to grab dinner on my way home. I ended up eating about 15 bites of a vegan burger and fries dish. My goal was to just throw it away after 5 bites, but that didn’t happen.
So…I grabbed a pack of bars this morning. I will try sticking to those for…[Read more]

Funny you should say that it is culturally shameful to be overweight there. In America, the bigness of something is valued most! The bigger, the better! It’s so bad here with regard to bigness that we actually have these fat acceptance movements that directly oppose fat shaming. I am not okay with shaming people at all fat or thin or whatever. But…[Read more]

I also have consumed hours of video lectures and talks about healthy plant based eating, keto, fasting, etc. What the…[Read more]

I’m looking forward to just being able to buy womens clothes, not mens clothes. That is going to be a huge relieve to me.
We had this Dr.John tickell in Australia that created “The Great Australian Diet”. He promoted the diet as the healthiest way to live based on Okanawans, Japan, being the longest living people. But he ended up getting brain…[Read more]

As someone who hates being told what I can and can’t eat and watching people really struggle to stay on alternative diets, myself included came to the conclusion that something is wrong. Everyone is still getting fatter in Australia and the government runs these campaigns to get kids and adults to move more to get healthier. And I really struggled…[Read more]

That’s it. I’ve been doing this for a lot of years. Untangle the confusion: it’s very simple. Carbon, by weight, in vs. carbon, by weight, out. But let’s make it even simpler: 5 bites twice a day. It guarantees that your carbon intake is minimal, it guarantees that you will be full all the time (after the third day), and it doesn’t limit you…[Read more]

When you are on your cruise you will be inundated with food–and it’s free! SO, be super aware of this fact, and try and have JUST ONE BITE of each item you want to taste. Order a burger, have one bite, throw the rest away. Try the fries–one bite–throw the rest away. I STRONGLY recommend the sit-down dinners; not the buffets. The food is b…[Read more]
