Tammy. It WILL work. There is no other alternative. BUT … you have to do it perfectly. Then again … you CAN be perfect. It will be tough and challenging at times, but it is absolutely doable. Let me know when the struggles set in, and I will devise some techniques to help you get over those struggles.

I like this. I remind patients all the time that they have plenty of salad, vegetables, and fruits already stored in the body, and their is no point in putting more in. I also have them practice some imagery: Envision yourself sitting down and consuming all kinds of food that you would like to eat. Smell how fresh the food is. Notice how coo…[Read more]

Thanks Tammy. That is super helpful. I love the idea of I have groceries on my body to eat that makes a huge difference. It definitely is the thought piece I need to practice to change!

After 2 weeks away dealing with health issues and getting my mind right I’m back and committed to this 100%. I’ve got a Christmas trip in 68 days and I want to be at between 139-135lbs by then (I will go lower after but this is the my first huge goal I want to get to). My current weight is still 188-190 (it’s fluctuating right now due to TOM). I…[Read more]

Hi!
I’m going to use this to check in daily with how the day went in order to hold myself accountable. After losing my dad to suicide I turned to food as a distraction. I had not even realized how much weight I gained until I went to the doctor. When I saw 168 on the scale I was in disbelief. That is when I first learned about the five bite diet.…[Read more]

Why not leave the home on the weekends? Go to the mall! Take your son to the park! But it does help to not have ready-to-eat food around. But because it has to be (for him), get away from the house.
I have put together a talk on delaying gratification [and avoiding snacking]. The core points are these:
Develop Clarity and Commi…[Read more]

Thanks Dr. L! I needed this extra bit of inspiration. Weekends are tough for me because I am usually home with easy access to food. I have to remind myself throughout the day…what do you want more, to be skinny, or to have that extra bit of food? Why are you craving that when you know it is delaying you from hitting your goal? There is defi…[Read more]

Wouldn’t that be incredible? Certainly, no extra bites at any meal (and of course nothing in-between meals) would be more satisfying that getting to your goal by Thanksgiving. Whenever you feel like snacking or taking bite #6, think about how unbelievably extraordinary Thanksgiving dinner is going to be when you are super thin.

Today I attended my son’s school carnival. Stuck to the plan. Down a few pounds so far. Looking forward to hitting the 140’s in the next week. I want to hit the 130’s by Halloween. And goal by Thanksgiving.

Great, Gayle! You’ve got a gameplan. My advice: try something different–something you would never order–from your dinner menu. Pick something you really don’t like. If people ask why you are ordering something you’d never normally order, just tell them you are expanding your gustatory repertoire. After a few bites, say something like, “we…[Read more]
