  • Fine.  Honestly, drinking a Coke Zero daily will NEVER allow you to plateau, but eating too much will.  Have a Coke Zero every day, but stick to 5 bites twice a day as well as you can.  The results are dramatic and exciting. :-)

  • Yes!!!  Let’s GO!!! :yahoo:

  • Hi Beclean,

Thanks for the tip about the Diet Coke related to plateauing. I have a very sluggish metabolism and I usually plateau on diets eventually. I actually gave up diet soda and all artificial sweeteners for about 10 years, but I got pulled back in to Coke Zero during the covid months. Now I am “using” it as a way to get through the first…[Read more]

  • beclean, Thanks for your kind words and support. I know,  even is I haven’t always acted like I should, that sharing your story is essential.  Ergo, as I head to the Finishing Lane and cross the Finish Line of 150 lbs, you will see regular updates.  I will admit that I am very excited by what I saw this morning. I know that you will find great jo…[Read more]

  • Hi lasalleop

Wow, what a story, very motivating for me, I am just starting again, but anything the scale shows lower than the previous time is a MAJOR milestone for me right now. So I can relate when the scale shows some amazing new number isn’t it… So happy for you, hope you keep letting us know your progress because it motivates me so much to…[Read more]

  • Hi scs,

I am starting again so I hope we become buddies in this journey. I did the diet many years ago and I lost like 55 pounds or so. But in my case, the “taste” of sugar, like a Diet Coke, or like some teas, will trigger my system to think I’m eating… it was horrible because like you, I loved the treat of a Diet Coke to make it easier. I…[Read more]

  • Wow, Ok…

WARM: I will start with the warm self, I didn’t know that, amazing new information, it makes sense plus I am always cold so I will add all those tips :yahoo: .

EXERCISE:  I don’t do anything, so Yes I will start today adding the treadmill. I guess you are right when you are hungry, it equals as if I had done tons of exercise but…[Read more]

  • Thanks for your response, Dr Lewis. I knew it was somewhere in the book, but I couldn’t readily find it. Unfortunately, I don’t drink coffee, but tea and water are top of my list, with a Coke Zero as a “treat.”

  • Poppycat, thank you for your support.  This means everything to me!  From an update that I just posted on the weight tracking site I just wrote this:  It might seem like a small milestone, but for me when I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 169 I was totally excited! For me this is a major milestone to have passed. To use again a ra…[Read more]

  • Hi Beclean!  We’ve got a beagle (half beagle, half pug), so I love your Avatar!

I do remember about your slow metabolism.  It is what it is.  Eating is fun, but it is MUCH more fun to be thin and perfectly healthy.  So if your body is just ultra efficient and requires very little fuel, so be it!  You will derive most of your entertainment from…[Read more]

  • Hi SCS!

Again, as I said in my book, liquids are thin and slip through the pyloric sphincter quickly before they have a change to stretch the stomach and hold it there for long enough to affect your hungerstat.  This means two things: 1. liquids really don’t play a role in affecting your hunger, unless the liquids contain caffeine.  and 2. You c…[Read more]

  • I am on Day 3 of my first 5-Bite Diet experience. It’s going fairly well except I am ravenous two hours after lunch and two hours after dinner. I am muscling through the discomfort by drinking Diet Coke, tea, and water. This made me question why liquids wouldn’t stretch our stomach stretch receptors just as solid food does. I read the book but I…[Read more]

Dr. Lewis, so are you doing next Monday 12 another meeting?

  • Hi everyone…!

I have been here before, maybe 5 years ago lost the weight (not to the final line, I guess that was a huge mistake) and I guess I didn’t learn the lesson that NOTHING is more important than my health, I have seen how things around me will always have troubles and that is not an excuse to give up on me. Maybe last time I was…[Read more]

  • Is the end in sight?  I do not know what happened to me in the past month to six weeks, but something did and my attention refocused itself and I have become much more focused and disciplined in my diet.  I am not yet ready to enter the Finishing Lane like I did for so many races, but I think it might be close by. I am hoping and praying that by t…[Read more]
