Whoosh!! Didn’t see a loss yesterday but it all works itself out if I just stick to the process. Did bars yesterday and was thinking about doing food but part of me would like to get to low goal because I know my weight will naturally bump up with salt. Also- even though I like the way I look and feel at 117, I’m prep…[Read more]

Hi everyone–
CW: 120.8; GW: 115-117
I’m back to get back to low goal before vacation and will stay active so I quickly lose any weight I gain.
Happy to report that I’ve more or less stayed in my maintenance range of 117-125. I don’t like how I feel above 119. Also- going on vacay so I’m going to really get down as low as I can before then. L…[Read more]

Thanks so much. I will stop weighing every day.

The main concern with weighing daily is that, subconsciously, you adjust your bites to fit the number on the scale. I don’t want you to do that. I simply want you to follow the diet EXACTLY as I’ve laid it out, and then look forward to your weigh-in day once a week.
( I do alter this a bit once you are done losing weight, but we are not there yet.) -

The book suggests weighing in once a week. Is there any exception to this? I would love to understand the thinking/ science behind this.

Good morning everyone! Yesterday was a great day! Perfect on plan, with a 1lb loss this morning. I will take that happily.
I may add in some gentle walking today to see if I can get that daily loss a little higher tomorrow.CW 201.5

Wonderful chat with Dr. Lewis last night! Today I am feeling focused, motivated, fully committed and ready to get this done. My food plan is my “spouse” for the next 100 days. We aren’t going to slowly chip away at this fat anymore, we are going to melt it away fast. After all, this is a race for my life!

I like that! You can start collecting tiny meals. See how many new, tiny, complete meals you can come up with!

This is Day 1 of not counting bites, but eating fixed meals of standard bites like:
Cereal bars
Candy bars (with nuts for the protein)
Protein bars
Breadstick+cheese or egg
I have counted the bites in all these tiny tiny meals and they fit into the five bite diet. Each one of them contains about 200-250 Kcals. So i don’t have to count bites…[Read more]

That’s incredible! I’m all in! Thank you!!! It really means a lot to have a confirmation that It can be done. There are SO many naysayers! I have never felt this committed in my life. There is absolutely nothing that will taste as good as dropping this much weight

Exactly right. I’ve used the same comparison to commitment with my own patients. You NEED to be 100% committed, not just as a challenge, but because, by definition, it is a commitment!

Yes, it’s possible. I had two sisters as patients, both near 300 pounds, who lost 50 pounds in the first 2 weeks. It is possible, but it requires: 1. extremely good will and discipline, and 2. enough excess fat on the body to begin with. You are too light to lose 45 pounds in 2 weeks, but you could do it in a month!

Yes you will. And it’s worth it. So take it day by day, meal by meal, and find a way to execute each meal perfectly. You can totally do this!!

Yes. Absolutely. But like a game of golf where every shot counts, every bite counts in this game of life.

I would love to hear some numbers in your first month with the 5 bite. It looks like it’s possible to lose 15 in the 1st week for most, but I’m wondering how substantially it will slow after the first week. I realize everyone is different, but it would be really encouraging to hear that someone out there has lost 45-50 pounds in a month against…[Read more]
