I have struggled with the same thing for my whole adult life.  I think it comes down to coping habits.  Try to figure out new ways to cope with stress and emotions other than eating. I stuck to two or three meals a day – depending on hunger.  I didn’t limit any type of food.  I ate until satisfied.  I tried to not finish any food ever (did great most of the time).  I don’t let myself graze or eat between meals (to easy to add up).  I did not count bites ever.

Hope your son continues to improve.  Sounds like you are right back on track.

Great job! And this heat has been so scary!!  Beloved Dr. Mosely died of heat stroke – it appears.
