  • Queenester, I do this too.

I have been keeping busy and appreciating being present.

Yes, it’s tough, but worth it.

It will always get better if you stay on the path.

  • Maria, this is so encouraging to hear.

I have a host of mobility issues, and that’s the primary reason I really want to succeed this time.

I cannot wait to move without hesitation, without pain.

  • Coffee is a game changer for sure.  That’s so perfect!

Hang in there for the ride of your life.

    Sincerely,

    Sheila Y.

  • You can do this!

I’m right with you.  Day two.

It does get easier and much better in a short period of time.  You are worth this extraordinary life!

    Sincerely,

    Sheila Y.

  • For hunger I use ice cold water or warm water.

Have you tried bundling up?  Putting a blanket on your lap, or a long sleeve shirt?

I noticed when we were working on packing, I got hot and the hunger was gone.

It comes and goes.  Just ride them out like waves.

It does typically take me longer than 3 days to set the hungerstat, so I totally u…[Read more]

  • Oh it will happen!

I have been on this diet and forgotten to eat many times.  My focus is always so spot-on, it amazes me every time.

Do something fun to pass the time.  I have been playing computer games, journaling and doing chores to surprise my husband when he gets home.

  • Fine.  But you won’t remember dining-in at this particular restaurant in a month (or so), and certainly the memory of the food itself will be long gone.  So was it worth it?  Probably not.  The extra bites will have turned your hungerstat up such that when you try and eat just 5 bites your appetite will crave more.  The extra bites will have adde…[Read more]

  • Oh, that’s wonderful, Dr. Lewis!  I want to embed this into my brain.

    Love it!

  • Sounds great, Dr. Lewis.  What a wonderful way to look at it :)

    Hi Sheila!

I think your need to improve your health may be what pushes you over the finish line.  After all, that is why everyone should want to be thin–really thin.

So, with that commitment tightly embedded in your heart and in your mind, let’s do it.  Let’s take a deep dive and go all the way.  You can come to breathe bites 6+ after you’ve gr…[Read more]

  • Also, hunger is great.  Remember your body is burning its own resources = fat… you are breathing out your extra weight.

Bring on the hunger, it’s a wonderful feeling knowing your body is getting healthier.

It gets better.  Take it a day at a time.

Fill up on recorded chats, read the book and forum, and reach out here.  We are all in this to…[Read more]

  • Read the forums for inspiration, as it’s been stated.

Warm water is soothing and satiating.

Keeping busy, organizing your surroundings makes you feel great with the extra time and energy.

We are planning a move in a couple of months so I have a lot of packing to do.

I will add more tips as I find them on the forum.

    Sincerely,

    Sheila

  • Hello everybody!

My name is Sheila Yount.  I am 47 years old and live in Georgia.

My health has taken such a turn for the worst.  I can hardly move or breathe.  So sad, but I know what needs to be done.  I just joined and am ready to start my journey.

I hope to do a lot of writing along the way to help with it all.

I heard about ‘Why Wei…[Read more]

  • I love that, Maria!!  Great job.  If you can buy regular food in a somewhat inexpensive form, it makes it a lot easier to enjoy your five bites and to throw the rest away.  And all of the “money wasted” by throwing food away is just being re-invested in your body–money very well spent.  So GREAT!!! :crazyexcited:

  • Great.  Friday is now.  Pretend that you just learned about this “crazy” new diet, the 5BD, and are excited to give it everything you’ve got.  You want to see if it’ll really work as advertised.  But you don’t know, so the only way to find out is to be PERFECT.  You are going to be your own scientist, testing the hypothesis that eating exac…[Read more]

  • Tomorrow, practice by taking 1 bite of an apple and throwing the rest away.  Then take one slice of an orange and throw the rest away.  Have one bite of a pear, dump the rest.  Have one grape.  Have one bite of banana and throw the rest.  You will feel like you had an entire fruit salad for lunch, yet got away with sticking to the diet perf…[Read more]

  • I understand–the whole country seems to be on lockdown (we certainly are here in California), but you are simply finding excuses for not sticking to the diet.  Yes, circumstances around you might seem difficult and challenging at times, but the biggest challenge you have is to get your body into a healthy place.  It is far more important than e…[Read more]

  • Hi BK!  I love it.  Indeed!–take it day by day and build momentum.  I like that concept.  Every day you get a little better at the process, and eventually you will reach the event horizon after which there is no turning back.  The momentum you’ve accrues will take you all the way to the finish line!

This journey is a project, and the proj…[Read more]

  • Just keep in mind that you are for sure going to feel weak and tired the first few days.  You just have to deal with it.  Do not eat to prevent this symptoms–you are just spinning your wheels if you do.  So start today!!! :good:

  • Hi Jas!  How are you doing?

Losing weight is tough.  It is a complete change in thinking.  There are SO MANY distractions and pressures that encourage you to eat.  Following this diet is HARD … but so worth it.  When you are done, life will be truly extraordinary!

When someone just gets started, though, it’s touch to change your years of buil…[Read more]
