  • I love the sounds of that.  Everyday I want you to wake up and remind yourself that THIS is the day to stay on track.  This is your time to finally, once and for all, get all the way to the finish line.  Don’t let anything stand in your way.  Pay attention to how your hunger feel in the morning, and remind yourself that tomorrow there will alr…[Read more]

  • Indeed!  Hunger comes and goes in waves.  Just like surfing, try and catch that wave at its peak (knowing that you are breaking down a ton of fat, or getting a great work out in), and then ride that wave to the bottom (the fun part, as the hunger wanes and the scale drops).  Let’s go surfing, everyone!! :crazyexcited:

  • Great job in losing those 40 pounds last time you were here, Heather.  But my feeling is always this:  why not lose even more, and do it in much less time.  You guys can, you know.  It’s all about your mindset.  IF, though, you want the end result badly enough, you will simply refuse to eat a 6th bite, and in so doing will approach the finish line…[Read more]

  • Hi Samantha!

Don’t just wait until you have only 10 pounds to go, use me (us) now too!  Let’s see how FAST we can get that excess weight off.  After all, why not?  Why NOT be perfect and eat only 5 smallish bites of food today?  Are you afraid that the hunger is going to kill you?  Because, when all is said and done and you look back upon it,…[Read more]

  • Right.  Those same parties will come back around next year, and next year you can splurge.  But this year, until you are skinny, stay committed to the diet.  Eat perfectly.  It is privately very satisfying to do so even though the temptation to stray can be great.  The problem is that our lives are centered around food and festivities ALL THE TIME…[Read more]

  • :good:  If the bodies of those people who have had gastric bypass surgery thrive, then be rest assured that doing the same thing but without the surgery is equally as good for your body.  I know at times you will feel weak and dizzy and lightheaded and “off,” but you are NOT damaging the body in any way.  You are simply resetting your hu…[Read more]

  • Welcome Allison!  You are definitely in the right place, and we’ll do the work of a gastric bypass, only FAR better.  You will ultimately achieve much greater weight loss than you would have with the surgery, and of course, you won’t experience any of the downsides to having surgery.

Sure–cook 2 scrambled eggs.  Heck, for that matter, why not sc…[Read more]

  • Right, Rachel!  No one is perfect 100% of the time, but you keep doing your best, which you are.   As far as this diet goes, the more you fall and come back to it, the further along this journey you will end up, until one day when you are simply done and all of these trying days are behind you.  So keep getting back up and starting over.    An…[Read more]

  • Welcome Dalia!  I’m so happy to have you here! :yahoo:

The first thing that I can tell you is this: Hunger is a wonderful, HEALTHY symptom that means our body is breaking down fat.  Don’t run from it; rather, cherish and welcome it!  Look forward to being hungry, because ultimately that is the only way we can get this excess weight off.  What sho…[Read more]

  • Yes!!   Eating small amounts is special and does make you feel amazing afterwards.  I guess it’s sort of like a runner’s high.  (And believe me, I know.  I’ve logged many hundreds of miles running around Southern California.)  When you start off running, it’s not fun or even comfortable, but you do it, in part, for that amazing feeling that…[Read more]

  • Yes, it’s possible.  I had two sisters as patients, both near 300 pounds, who lost 50 pounds in the first 2 weeks.  It is possible, but it requires: 1. extremely good will and discipline, and 2. enough excess fat on the body to begin with.  You are too light to lose 45 pounds in 2 weeks, but you could do it in a month! :crazyexcited:

  • Your jeans are just one of the many benefits of getting thin.  PLEASE fill up on the image of you wearing those jeans around, and keep up your great mindset.  You are going to do great!!

  • I agree with that, Gayle.  Momentum is a powerful, important force that can help us reach our goal.  As important as it is to really want to be thin, and as important as it is to control hunger, and as important as it is to be able to delay gratification, momentum can keep us going when all seen and unforeseen forces are working to thwart our p…[Read more]

  • Right, Chloe.  There literally isn’t a better, faster weight-loss program out there.  So if your progress is slow at times, remind yourself that there is no diet that would be more effective, except going on a complete fast.  But even a complete fast has it’s issues that I don’t like.  You are shutting down the GI tract completely, and this is cou…[Read more]

  • I love that.  When you become this aware of the process of eating–the flavor of the food, the texture of the food, the after tastes of food (and coffee!), the gradual and comfortable snuffing of hunger–a few things happen:

    1.  Food tastes better–obviously–because you are really focusing on the food itself.  When you commit to something, do it…[Read more]

    Hi BeClean!

Fine.  Putting the nuts on a spoon is a great idea.  But boy nuts are tough: they are SO tempting.  (They are normally snack food.)  Nuts come in big packages, and when you’ve had one spoonful, you are so tempted to have another, then another, then another.  But again, as long as you are committed to the finish line and want that more…[Read more]

  • SCS,

You cannot plateau on 5 bites twice a day.  It’s 4 oz of food, which is simply not enough material to keep even the slowest metabolisms from needing to break down fat.  Again, for those in the 200 lb range, they lose roughly 3 pounds of carbon a day through breathing.  So 4 oz in for them is still a net loss of 2.5 pounds a day, more or le…[Read more]

  • Fine.  Honestly, drinking a Coke Zero daily will NEVER allow you to plateau, but eating too much will.  Have a Coke Zero every day, but stick to 5 bites twice a day as well as you can.  The results are dramatic and exciting. :-)

  • Hi Beclean!  We’ve got a beagle (half beagle, half pug), so I love your Avatar!

I do remember about your slow metabolism.  It is what it is.  Eating is fun, but it is MUCH more fun to be thin and perfectly healthy.  So if your body is just ultra efficient and requires very little fuel, so be it!  You will derive most of your entertainment from…[Read more]

  • Hi SCS!

Again, as I said in my book, liquids are thin and slip through the pyloric sphincter quickly before they have a change to stretch the stomach and hold it there for long enough to affect your hungerstat.  This means two things: 1. liquids really don’t play a role in affecting your hunger, unless the liquids contain caffeine.  and 2. You c…[Read more]
