  • It varies from person to person, but I’d say about 1 month. That’s if you eat nothing but 5 bites twice a day for 30 days (but we are just talking about 30 days, right? Not bad!) Typically, we lose from a 1/2 a pound to 1 pound every eight hours of living. Your 2.5 pounds in 24 hours fits this model. Remember, you body never stops blowing off…[Read more]

  • Beautiful!! You are doing great!

I actually recommend, rather than trying to estimate a 5-Bite meal, just surround yourself with food and from it take only 5 bites. It makes you feel amazing.

  • Yes, our weights fluctuate throughout the day, but not for some ‘unknown’ reason. They fluctuate based on the net weight of everything that enters and leaves the body. Water and fluids DO weigh a lot, but your water balance over 24° stays the same. If not, we would all swell up like sponges or dessicate like prunes. If you drink A LOT of…[Read more]

I think gum is good, particularly if it keeps you from snacking (food and gum don’t mix). : )

  • Why bother with the water/juice fast? I guess the water fast is OK, but the juice fast has a lot of calories in it–and you will likely take in more calories drinking juices than you would eating five bites.

You CAN drop 15 pounds per week, but you have to be perfect. It’s not easy, but very, very worth it. And its not hard from a physical…[Read more]

  • Yes–I cream melts and is considered a liquid. Still, you can have five bites of it, if you want, for a meal, but that’s it. Granted, you may not fill up on it, as it quickly turns to liquid, but from a hunger standpoint it is probably better to eat five bites of an ice cream than to skip that meal completely.

However! Don’t eat your ice cream…[Read more]

  • Firstly, the kids meal thing is very interesting. Of course we can’t break the law, but hopefully popular opinion (or tons of people joining the FBD) will eventually persuade restaurant owners to open their kids meals to everyone.

KlCulmer, Yes. I am perfectly OK with not cheating, but everytime you do it makes it harder to get back on track.…[Read more]

  • Yes–it feels SO good to eat so little, feel comfortable, and watch the pounds float away. It is much more fulfilling to eat less and know that you are getting thin than to eat more of something you’ve just put in your mouth. So get excited about crossing the finish line, and just go for it!!

I am going to comment on the potential here:

During menstruation you lose not just blood but endometrial tissue (CELLS) that your body then has to start rebuilding for the next month. Prior to your period, as the tissue is growing the most, a lot of estrogen is being produced by the ovary to STIMULATE your appetite so you have more sugar around…[Read more]

  • Welcome back Marina!

If losing weight were easy for everyone, I wouldn’t have this website. But that’s what we are here for. And you’ve already conquered the hardest part–committing yourself to the finish line. Let’s have fun and get it done!

I want you to inundate your thoughts with images of you as a thin, energetic person. Just image how…[Read more]

  • Make sure they are the 2.07 oz Snickers Bar. If they are, and all you eat are 2 of them, you, at most, can only be eating 560 calories! That’s just not much for a day! Now it is possible that you have an extremely EFFICIENT metabolism, and that your body can run beautifully on not much more than 600 calories a day, but you would be extremely…[Read more]

  • Hi Shannon.

Welcome! Delighted to have you aboard!

A bite is a bite. Every time your fork raises to you mouth, it counts as a bite. Keep your bites small–a small bite tastes the same as a big bite. Get used to the small volume you are putting in you stomach, and before very long you will feel spectacular (and look it too!) I like the idea…[Read more]

  • Believe it or not, I only have a handful of people who have stuck to, and only to, Snickers for a week. All of them (from the best of my memory) lost 13-16 pounds that week. They were of different sexes, though if they weighed more they lost more. Remember: the more you weigh, the more energy your body requires to run, and the more calories…[Read more]

Hi. Nice to hear from you again.

Everything above sounds fine, except the part about 1 pound = 3500 calories. Those calculations are just not correct. I know this because I just had a near-500 pound man lose 28 pounds his first week on this diet. You are suggesting that his daily deficit was 14,000 Calories, and for someone who…[Read more]

  • Georgia – for the next few days, LOOK FORWARD to being hungry. You WANT to be hungry. In fact, you want to starve. You can’t wait to get shaky and light-headed. See how much ‘torture’ you can bring upon your body–and prove to yourself how resilient your body actually is. (Love forcing your body to eat the fat more than you want to have…[Read more]

  • Howdy Kizzykay! Welcome!

Question 1 – you can function quite well on most anything…or even nothing, as your fat stores allow. I just personally like Snickers Bars, and they are about 5 bites, so I use them as an example. But any bar of the same size (about 2 oz) would give you a good mental picture of the ideal meal size.

    Question 2 – No.…[Read more]
