Right. The second you screw up it’s in the past. But you need to learn from the experience so you don’t do it again. The next time someone orders Chinese, run in the opposite direction! (If you smell it, you won’t be able to resist it!)
And BTW, why all the rice? One bites is IDENTICAL to the flavor of every other bite. Let’s face it: you w…[Read more]

BRILLIANT!! Whew … when I read, ” … last night was a nightmare..” I assumed you had gained 3 pounds. But NO! You did great!
Here’s the thing: you could have eaten like everyone else, gained some weight, and it would have been like every other celebration you’ve ever attended. But you ventured out and did something new: you resisted thi…[Read more]

Exactly right. DON’T step on the scale but on your weigh-in day.
It’s always difficult to predict for so many reasons, but I’d say in about 3 months. That’s is a tiny amount of time for such an extraordinary transformation and well worth the sacrifice. But, you need to treat every day as if THAT day is the most important day on your jo…[Read more]

Great! I like that idea!
And, particularly the next few days, LOOK FORWARD to being hungry. Make it a game–a challenge–to see just how much hunger your body can generate. Try and become hungrier than you’ve ever been in your entire life! Then note how the hunger comes and goes in waves, and how dramatically the amplitude of those waves fal…[Read more]

I agree with both of you. It is A LOT harder eating just 5 bites of food when you are eating out. BUT, overcoming a much harder challenge produces an even greater sense of accomplishment. The reward is massive, and you will feel invincible. You will have accomplished a feat that that but a handful of people in the country can do–maybe eve…[Read more]

Slolady – great job!, but does the exercise not stimulate your appetite? Or are you keeping the walking at an easy, comfortable pace? Remember my take: do WHATEVER it takes to get all of the excess weight off as quickly as possible, THEN exercise, work out, etc. Of course, exercise may be appropriate for anxiety and other issues, but pr…[Read more]

Agreed everyone! Your body is talking to you when you go astray. Listen to it and learn from it! Your body WANTS you thin, so go for it!!!

Right. The only meal that matters is the next one. Focus on perfecting your next meal. That is ALL you need to worry about at this time. “Hmmm. How am I going to eat my next meal in five perfect bites.” That’s the game. That’s everything.

Great job, Gilli!
Yes, I will be at the chat tonight, but I don’t know if anyone else will show, SO:
I recommend that you transition to fast-food. But be perfect. Fast food doesn’t come wrapped up in a perfect 5-bite size. So COUNT YOUR BITES. Make sure each bite is the same size as one fifth of a Snickers bar. Other than that, just enjo…[Read more]

Hi Marie!
I am sorry about the diagnosis, but it should be somewhat comforting to know that this is a very curable disease.
But once again: the #1 risk factor for cancer is excess weight on the body. Losing weight also helps dramatically in the treatment of all cancer. So now, more than ever, following through on your commitment to get s…[Read more]

Right Ari! Congrats on getting off on a good start. An occasional Coke Zero is fine, but don’t overdo them. Still, I rather that than extra bites of food.
Right–get rid of all the candy in your house. Unless, of course, they are for meals. There will be plenty of opportunities to snack when you are finished with this race.

2 things:
1. If you are OK with the pace you are going, so am I. As long as you are always moving forward you WILL cross the finish line, and your new life WILL be spectacular!
2. If you are frustrated by the “slow” weight loss, then please do the weight diary. Again, it goes like this:
– Weigh yourself first thing when you wake up, BEFORE g…[Read more]

That’s right. You need to develop a sense of URGENCY. Every moment of every day counts. No scales, just 5 bites twice a day. Focus on those bites, eat just them, and adore them. Then on to other bigger and better things!

Right. The health benefits of losing weight and being thin are indescribable. Truly. Focus on the finish line, and don’t slow down until you cross it. There will be plenty of time after that to eat to your heart’s delight.

Brilliant, Susan! GREAT night. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT. I love the fact that you experienced a five-bite meal in it’s full glory. Awesome, wasn’t it? You didn’t miss out on a thing, you shared the same experiences as everyone else, AND you lost a pound to boot! Great job!

Indeed. There will alway be way too much food around. We have to learn how to deal with the excess abundance of food by finding ways around it without swallowing it. You already know how to lose weight and are demonstrating that wonderful ability now. AND, you have learned what you can’t do that will cause you to regain the weight. Ag…[Read more]
