  • By the way, there’s no way I’m maintaining this weight with eating just 2 Snicker bars per day is there?? I hope not.

  • Last night, I drank so much water, I stepped on the scale (just before my bath) and found I had gained 5lbs just like that LOL!! Of course, I went to the bathroom several times last night, so this morning I went to the bathroom (had a BM for the first time all week), and I’m only 114lbs now. :S
I know it’s toying with me grrr, and it’s NOT gonna win! ;)

  • It took about 2 days for mine to be re-set. When I get cravings or temptations, I reach for a cup of coffee, gum, water with lemon juice (and splenda), or a cup of hot tea. It’s been helping me so far.

  • I’m trying very very hard here. In my fridge, I have a line of snicker bars lined up for my entire meal-plan for the whole week. Everyday my calories will not exceed 560. I’m drinking nothing but water with lemon juice or some tea (with Splenda). I’m chewing gum to help me NOT think of snacking and also I won’t be sneaking in extra bites…[Read more]

  • GOOD NEWS!! My tired-ness is over (yesterday was awesome) and my hungerstat is re-set to just 2 snicker bars a day. All I’ve been having are cups of tea (celestial seasonings), black coffee for the times when cravings come (or if it’s not
time to eat yet), and trident sugarless chewing gum (which also helps).
    So, I’m currently 115lbs and I’m so…[Read more]

  • ..and that’s why today I went to Walmart and bought a few bags of the 2.07oz snicker bars. I’m going to follow this diet to a ‘T’, and drink only black coffee or hot tea (with Splenda) until I reach my goal weight. I want to lose this weight and be done with it so I can then maintain– but first I have to lose it.

  • I just CANNOT wait for this fatigue to leave!!

  • Oh Dr. Lewis, please believe me– I am on a race here. Everytime I’ve been tempted, or had stupid cravings, I’ve told myself that I have a goal– and I"m not going to give up what I ultimately want for something that I just want ‘right now’.
The tea I drink is made by Celestial Seasonings, and it’s blueberry-flavored (0 calories). I LOVE it. I’m…[Read more]

  • All I’ve had so far today, is a few cups of hot tea (with just a few teaspoons of splenda), and 1 almond snickers bar. For dinner, I plan on having another almond snickers bar, and hopefully within the next few days I can finally get off of the same number on the scale!! LOL

  • Thank you SO much Dr. Lewis. I’m sorry I’ve been posting a lot lately, but it’s just because I"m on a race to lose this weight within the 8wks. Tomorrow, I’m going to just eat the 2 snicker bars and be done with it. I want this weight off ASAP
so I can start feeling normal again!!

  • Well, lesson learned. I’m feeling better after eating the strip of beef jerky. So, I guess every few days or so, I should have some

Dr. Lewis– thank you very much for any and all advice. In your book, I’m reminded of the line you wrote that said, "What do you say to a know-it-all dieter…" because my mom IS the know-it-all dieter. Not only that, but her and my step-dad are going to be staying with us in our home, and to her, ‘normal’ dinner is a 12" huge plate with a…[Read more]

Dr. Lewis, PLEASE tell me that I won’t re-gain the weight when I hit my goal.

Also, what do I do when my mom comes to visit next Christmas?? What I mean is, I don’t want her thinking that I’m sick or I don’t eat enough etc. so how can I calm her fears and worries as a parent when she’s surely going to see how much (or rather how little) I eat???

  • That’s why I try to avoid those types of get-togethers, or, if I have no choice, I’ll order a cup of coffee and explain I
already ate (or I don’t feel well, etc.). I find the visual triggers the WORST. That’s the main reason I try to avoid them.

  • In my opinion, I think the body is always in a constant state of breaking down and re-building and I would imagine the same is true for our muscles.

(and speaking of how long animals go without eating– whales go an average of 6mos. without food living off of their blubber– and they have the longest migration route).

I know I’m sure here! I love reading the threads, the online chats, etc. and getting the motivation and support that always helps me out.

  • Trick and switch the craving. For example, when I banished ALL chocolate out of my diet (before finding the 5BD), whenever I’d get a craving for it, I’d buy a box of the diet hot chocolate mix. Each packet was only 25 calories, 0.5g fat, but I’d still get all the flavor and it would ‘trick’ the craving. I always try to find a way to trick and…[Read more]

  • By the way, we were looking at some older pics of my husband today, and he put on the same clothes he was wearing in the pics and I re-took his picture to see/show the ‘before/current’ pics of him. WOW. WHAT a difference 30lbs makes!!Post edited by: Rae, at: 2008/04/29 09:49

  • Thank you for asking! My husband actually deploys this weekend. Originally, he had a duty day (where he spends all day and night on the ship) just before they leave, but he paid a crewpal (who is single) $100 to take over his duty day just so’s he can have 1 extra day with me. Things like that make me want to cry and hold him close and never let…[Read more]
