  • Isn’t hummus just the best? I also had some for dinner. Only a little bit though :)

  • Thanks doc, that is exactly what I needed to hear.  :good:

    Day 46

Lunch: Vegan Apple Pie, with leftovers to throw away

Dinner: dried figs dipped in hummus

Keeping the bites very small, it’s just for taste. I have somehow magically been staying at a weight of 151.5 for the last 3 days and it kinda drives me nuts given that I am so…[Read more]

    Day 45

Lunch: oatmeal with nuts and figs

DInner: a 2 oz fig bar from work.

With both of these meals, there were left overs that I threw away. Honestly I wound up feeling a little wasteful with the oatmeal but not so much with the fig bar. I need to remember to think about how long it will take to breathe out the bites…[Read more]

    day 44

Lunch: 4 small bites of falafel, and one french fry

    Dinner: a milky way bar

I emphasized eating a very small volume today and just focused on the taste. Taking a bigger bite doesn’t make it tastier. Went to train today but I know my priorities and didn’t push myself too hard. Just did a few fun things and stopped when I felt…[Read more]

  • So just to make sure I can make it through this week as well as I can:

    Read “race day” daily

    Log daily

Avoid food heavy places when not in eating mode just to keep the slightest subliminal food message away

Meditate and stretch to relax and to resolve doubt/excessive rumination

Stay busy, engaged with other things, projects, etc.

    Eat a…[Read more]

  • Rachel- I am not sure if I will go back to being vegan or not, something I am thinking about  still.

    Day 42-43

    08/26/18

    42

Lunch and dinner: figs w/ nuts and seeds, 5 bites

I went to bed early but not before skipping out on a dessert bar and pizza with the coworkers. I just already ate by the time they got around to doing that so it put me…[Read more]

    Day 41

Lunch: grilled mozerella sandwich and a chai tea

Dinner: cactus taco and “crusted” avo taco 2 and 3 bites

I feel like i was majorly on track but i ordered a plain chai tea from starbucks and didnt quite get what i ordered. Like i think it was a chai tea latte. The barista messed up and it might add a little. A small mistake but…[Read more]

  • Day 40

    08/23/18

    Breakfast: walnut apple strudel

Lunch: subway sandwhich 4 bites of kid sized, 1 bite of cookie

I also got into chewing a lot of gum today and I think that’s a little weird because I had ALOT of it. I think it is probably mostly harmless but can lead to fixation on food and flavor. It’s an unhelpful distraction I think. So no…[Read more]

  • Yes!

As far as guided meditations, you can use an app called “Insight timer” and looke for the guided meditations by Shinzen Young. Also if you have an iphone I think he has a direct app called Brightmind. Basically any meditation will help because it redirects one’s focus towards some meditation object.

Specifically with food and achieving your…[Read more]

    Day 39

    Breakfast: strudel

    Lunch: Vegan Chicken and ravioli

One of my housemates started getting really curious about what I have been doing to lose weight and asked a lot of questions. It was nice to have answers for her.

  • Good luck, you just gotta commit to it, drop all your doubts and just go for it!

    Day 38

    Lunch: chicken tenders and figs

    Dinner: Snickers bar

Keeping it simple and easy. I’m so excited to drop into the 140s this week  :woowoo:

  • Funny you should say that it is culturally shameful to be overweight there. In America, the bigness of something is valued most! The bigger, the better! It’s so bad here with regard to bigness that we actually have these fat acceptance movements that directly oppose fat shaming. I am not okay with shaming people at all fat or thin or whatever. But…[Read more]

  • Damn Lynda you are so knowledgeable and experienced!

Kmarie I can empathize with you greatly as I spent a loooong time reading so many different books about all the various diets out there including some of the ones you listed. I also have consumed hours of video lectures and talks about healthy plant based eating, keto, fasting, etc. What the…[Read more]

    Day 37

    Breakfast was a strudel pastry

    Lunch was a Snickers bar

    All 5 bites.

I feel good! I like having a little flexibility, being able to have breakfast every once in a while with my girlfriend. It also makes for a larger fasting period the next day since I won’t eat again until lunch. It comes off the same. I am so busy with other…[Read more]

  • Nice Lynda! Keep pushing! :) i love before and after pictures of people losing weight, so vicariously gratifying. Can’t wait to do one myself too.

  • Hi Rachel! Wow i feel like we have gone through similar journeys. I too had gotten up to about 183 and resolved to change, dropped to 173 and then knew i needed some community support to continue.

Oh and I was doing the same thing!: eating a high volume vegan diet which did not serve me well.

I also have gotten deeply into meditation practice…[Read more]

  • Day 36

topping up. it’s impossible to eat “normally”. That is, I cannot physically eat more than 1/3 of what I used to eat on a daily basis, which caused me to be overweight. I was initially worried about having this “top up day” because I thought it would hinder my progress but I am down another 5 lbs this week to 151. So I am just keeping with…[Read more]

    08/18/18

Weighing in tomorrow. Super excited to see where i am at.

Lunch and dinner were just clif bars today.

I did a lot of hiking and swimming and it was a struggle, but not nearly to the extent that i expected. And i felt well enough after taking some breaks to keep going as if my energy levels were completely restored(which is…[Read more]

    08/17/18

Going camping this weekend until sunday morning over at lake tahoe. I have a milky way and 3 clif bars for the entire thing. I am set. There will be a littlw hiking and a lot of swimming and climbing. I know that i might get tired but i also know i can just wait it out and i will be fine.

I can actually feel some of the veins on…[Read more]
