Just starting a thread for ideas on reponses to those in our lives who find it difficult coming to terms with your new, healthier self. Dr. Lewis gave me a few ideas. Feel free to add your comebacks!!
“Right: So anticipate the barrage of questions coming your weigh. Here are some possible responses:

There have been a few people in the district here who have lost their lives early. Mid 50’s and 60’s. All overweight. And the health issues people have with diabetes. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Think of all the potential disease you are getting rid of and how healthier you are even if the pounds where not as much as you liked for the week. You…[Read more]

I’m not stressing if its not as much as I wanted. If you loose 2 pounds that’s still heading in the right direction and think how much you have already lost!! 30 pounds rid of inflammatory, disease creating fat.
And your right about a slower weight loss on other diets. All the others require too much time, obsession, weighing,…[Read more] -

yeah I love indian and thai food and mediterranean, and just all of it I guess haha.
No more hiding for me, I’m seeing this thing through.
Alice-good job on keeping up with the community and sticking with it even when it was hard.
Lynda- yeah stay out of the kitchen! it is probably harder when having to prepare food for your kids

The number of diets I have tried in the past and have not been able to stick to is endless. Weight watchers, low carb, low calorie, the great Australian diet, jenny craig, CSIRO diet. It’s embarrassing, but this is by far the easiest “life style change” I have made. It’s time efficient, not fostering obsessive behaviour, fits into my lifestyle…[Read more]

Great tip about having a variety of bites. Then I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything. I got inspiration about looking for a free to eat what you want diet but limit the amount when I went out to the top restaurant in town here. They serve bite size tasty morsels in between what you ordered. And I was thinking I would have been happy with…[Read more]

My weakness is the tiredness and hunger hitting me while I’m preparing food for the kids. I fell off the wagon twice this week 10 bites of picking at food. So I am making a point of not being in the kitchen when that hits and just doing something else until it passes. I empathise with the Thai food. I got rid of all my green curry from the…[Read more]

So I’ve lost another 4 pounds. No sugary drinks or alcohol. I did have 2 slip ups. Blew out to about 10 small bites while tired and preparing food for kids at 5pm-6pm on 2 nights. So I’ve prepared dinners so I don’t have to be around the kitchen when I’m hungry and ready to graze, tempted to pick at food.
But I’m happy with the ongoing 2 kg a…[Read more]

Day 21
Just checking in! So far so good, lunch and dinner both 5 bites of thai curry, one meal with rice, the other with pita bread. It’s nice to be back in control. I intende to “top up” tomorrow after my weigh in then continue 5 bites for the course of the week.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
Even though in maintenance – it is always a work in progress. I have lost anywhere for 25-30 pounds. That may not sound like a lot – but it is huge to me because I have spent most of my adult life dieting and feeling helpless around food. There is a deep, emotional connection to food and eating issues/disorders…[Read more]

Day 20
This is my fourth day of eating just a little too much and falling off the rails but I am jumping right back on! Despite what my newly found hunger tells me is great, being full sucks because I know I am headed in the wrong direction. Still I am learning a powerful lesson: “Don’t get cocky.” I felt like I was on top of the world with so…[Read more]

Yay Gayle! I am glad you are on here because I was so curious about your success. Can I ask you how much weight you lost? I especially love that meditation part. I think it is essential. I have a consistent meditation practice and I am currently building one for before and after meals to ensure compliance. Let me know if you want me to hook you up…[Read more]

Day 3: wt 121.0 (-4.0)
Hi Everyone –
I don’t know where my first Journal went so I hope this is not redundant.
I wanted to introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me. I am returning to Slimming Station after approximately 1.5 yr of maintaining my weight. I am STILL in my maintenance range but was at the HIGH end of my range (116-125).…[Read more]

Just read your post Kmarie! Once your stomach heals you will feel wonderful on 5 bite. I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis – an autoimmune disorder – and have no symptoms since 5 bite.
Sending you well wishes.

Thanks for the insightful post Leona!!
How great Leona that you have identified how you can move things forward and knock this weight loss out of the park! We have all been stuck in “excuse land.” I was there up until meeting Dr. Lewis 2 years ago. My weight went up and down like a roller coaster. I took ownership and let NOTHING and No One…[Read more]
