    Day 39

    Breakfast: strudel

    Lunch: Vegan Chicken and ravioli

One of my housemates started getting really curious about what I have been doing to lose weight and asked a lot of questions. It was nice to have answers for her.

  • I think that’s another issue we need to deal with. The fact that others have their own issues with weight and will unintentionally sabotage our weight loss. We need to do this for US not for anyone else otherwise we will fail. Sure I want others to notice how skinny I am and how good I look but ultimately it’s for me and me alone.

    I was per…[Read more]

  • I hadn’t seen my mother in 5 weeks. She said “you are not going to fall down are you?” I said, “What do you mean?” She was implying that if I get too skinny I will be too weak to stand?? I replied “Actually, I’m able to do more now that I’m more mobile and it’s the exact opposite.” There is always going to be someone who is negative, but I know…[Read more]

  • Good luck, you just gotta commit to it, drop all your doubts and just go for it!

  • Wow! Such amazing advice. Thank you Dr Lewis  for reminding me to just keep it simple. I think the main reason I failed last time was I was so worried about gaining all the weight back so just kind of gave up.

Lynda your post really opened my eyes. You really know your stuff. You’re so right about the food industry wanting to make money and re…[Read more]

  • Simple is best. Nice to hit those goals hey Chloe!!

  • LOL.  I agree. There’s no point in naming and shaming. There’s plenty of FA movement on the food channel. Overweight commentators digging into the supersizes. I would prefer to share with my less fortunate associates. I like the “normalize” observation. Media is so much about changing the perception and not the reality or the outcome.

    Day 38

    Lunch: chicken tenders and figs

    Dinner: Snickers bar

Keeping it simple and easy. I’m so excited to drop into the 140s this week  :woowoo:

  • Funny you should say that it is culturally shameful to be overweight there. In America, the bigness of something is valued most! The bigger, the better! It’s so bad here with regard to bigness that we actually have these fat acceptance movements that directly oppose fat shaming. I am not okay with shaming people at all fat or thin or whatever. But…[Read more]

  • Damn Lynda you are so knowledgeable and experienced!

Kmarie I can empathize with you greatly as I spent a loooong time reading so many different books about all the various diets out there including some of the ones you listed. I also have consumed hours of video lectures and talks about healthy plant based eating, keto, fasting, etc. What the…[Read more]

  • I’m looking forward to just being able to buy womens clothes, not mens clothes. That is going to be a huge relieve to me.

We had this Dr.John tickell in Australia that created “The Great Australian Diet”. He promoted the diet as the healthiest way to live based on Okanawans, Japan, being the longest living people. But he ended up getting brain…[Read more]

  • As someone who hates being told what I can and can’t eat and watching people really struggle to stay on alternative diets, myself included came to the conclusion that something is wrong. Everyone is still getting fatter in Australia and the government runs these campaigns to get kids and adults to move more to get healthier. And I really struggled…[Read more]

  • Hi! I’ve been quiet lately and not consistent. However, even cutting back a little is giving me the confidence to not gain weight on my upcoming 10 day cruise. Tips are appreciated! I am hopping back on 5 bite when I get back in town. See you soon.  :-)

    Chris

  • I haven’t posted in awhile or followed the 5 bite plan. I’m back up to 162lbs. Feeling very defeated.

The more I study various diets the more lost I become. I’ve read about fasting and calories in calories out, low carb high fat, Atkins, Dr Jason Fung Obesity Code, anti inflammatory diet, boosting metabolic, how eating too little destroys your…[Read more]

    Day 37

    Breakfast was a strudel pastry

    Lunch was a Snickers bar

    All 5 bites.

I feel good! I like having a little flexibility, being able to have breakfast every once in a while with my girlfriend. It also makes for a larger fasting period the next day since I won’t eat again until lunch. It comes off the same. I am so busy with other…[Read more]

  • In 2 weeks you won’t give a damn if the feeder brings home 3 pizzas. You’ll have 5 bites and be done with it. You are only a few days away from setting your hunger stat. And you won’t want to overeat.

  • Hi NeedingThis,

If you can start the diet in your own space. Get some nice zero calorie drinks available. Get some snickers (if you are in a position where you can’t focus) and arm yourself with responses on why you are not feasting anymore. My challenge will be at the Filipino pot luck parties where there will be 3 women force feeding me because…[Read more]

  • Nice Lynda! Keep pushing! :) i love before and after pictures of people losing weight, so vicariously gratifying. Can’t wait to do one myself too.

  • Hi Rachel! Wow i feel like we have gone through similar journeys. I too had gotten up to about 183 and resolved to change, dropped to 173 and then knew i needed some community support to continue.

Oh and I was doing the same thing!: eating a high volume vegan diet which did not serve me well.

I also have gotten deeply into meditation practice…[Read more]

  • Day 36

topping up. it’s impossible to eat “normally”. That is, I cannot physically eat more than 1/3 of what I used to eat on a daily basis, which caused me to be overweight. I was initially worried about having this “top up day” because I thought it would hinder my progress but I am down another 5 lbs this week to 151. So I am just keeping with…[Read more]
