  • Good evening! I have been foolishly absent for the past month.  ever since my monastery has been on a very strict shelter-in-place lockdown  It has been very hard to stay focused.  I have wandered and am trying to return to the right path.  I have no excuse; I have been lazy and unfocused.  I know that what I was doing was not good for me in any…[Read more]

  • This was NOT a good week for me! I was with a group of my students from De La Salle HS in Concord on a week-long visit to San Diego. I went up in weight and I know that this is not a good thing. I was truly irresponsible in personal decisions, but I know what I have to do to get back on track. This coming three weeks is going to be a serious…[Read more]

  • Poppycat,

Sometimes likes life can be a tad distracting with our attention being drawn from one thing to another. Being with your at her end was a great act of love. Be proud of what you did for her. May she Rest In Peace!

But now welcome back to our 5 Bite home!  I’m glad you’re back and I wish you well as you continue your journey to a pers…[Read more]

  • BK, I just read your post. This journey is perhaps long, it is certainly a challenge, but in the end You are meeting the challenge for your peace of mind and heart and for the health of your body. I know that when I did the 5 Bite Diet in 2006 I was a total couch potato. After I lost 100+ pounds I was then able to race up the tallest buildings in…[Read more]

  • Thanks, BK!  Your support is a blessing for me!

Jas, I am glad you are here.  I have been with Dr. Lewis since October 24, 2006.  This is my second round on the 5 Bite Diet. I can happily say that you can trust Dr. Lewis for the best possible advice.  Count also on my support, best wishes, and prayers! Stay Strong!  Stand Tall!  Sean

  • Just before dinner I weighed myself.  I was nervous, but I did it anyway and I was thrilled to see the scale read 199 Lbs!!!  I haven’t been under 200 lbs for a very, very long time.  I am very grateful to Dr. Lewis for the 5 Bite Diet and to all of you out there in the 5 Bite Community.  I know that I wouldn’t have reached this incredible mil…[Read more]

  • Incredible stories!  I know myself that without the 5 Bite Diet in 2006-07 I would never have been able to run up the stairs in tall buildings like the Sears Tower in Chicago (103 floors, 2,109 steps) in 24 minutes, 11 seconds or have a 26.2 mile marathon PR of 4 hours, 11 minutes, 54 seconds. Now about 14 years later at age 68 I am back with the…[Read more]

  • I ate some “normal” food for dinner (5 Bites!) this evening and it seemed quite odd. Next week will be hard as I will be on a retreat with some of my students.  However, I went to Walgreen’s this morning and purchased a week’s stash of Snicker Bars.  I want to make sure that I am prepared if the meals in Healdsburg don’t meet my needs. Thankfully…[Read more]

  • <p style=”text-align: left;”>I agree 150% with Dr. Lewis.  When I drink plain, pure, cold water, especially with dinner, I sleep much more soundly and even rarely get up to use the potty. I do like Crystal Light, but I am getting used to simpler things.</p>

  • I have always not enjoyed multiple cans of diet soda of any kind. They taste odd and I feel bloated. I like the Crystal Light products. They have various flavors that don’t give me a bloated feeling.

  • Excellent News!  Stay Strong!  Stand Tall!

  • 👍👍👍 BK, Keep up the good work. Today and tomorrow I will stick with Snicker bars but then I will try other “normal” foods for a week. I once told Dr. Lewis that his diet plan was “eccentric,” but the truth is that it really works.  It worked for me in 2006-07 and in 2020 it’s working for me again, and it’s working for you.  I am very excited for y…[Read more]

  • This evening the dinner that was served where I live did not seem to meet my nutritional and diet needs.  But instead eating another Snicker Bar I ate 5 bites of a peanut butter sandwich using oatmeal bread.  Did I wimp out?  Be assured that tomorrow I will return to truth and and righteousness with a Snicker bar for lunch.  Dinner? Can I wait and…[Read more]

  • You can do it!

  • BK,

I agree with Sharon Marie. Daily checking in  is good as is a food journal. My daily journal is a log of my weight every day.  I take my weight and write it down first thing. For me this motivates me for the day. Most importantly, this is a a journey that we are all together. My prayers and best wishes are with you. Stay Strong! Stand Tall!
